Saudi Riyal with error?

This is a saudi Riyal I got in a silver lot a while back. It has a nice strike on one side then smooth as a butt on the other with no trace of ever beening struck.

A coin that's been well struck on one side and completely blank on the other is almost certainly going to have had one side ground off post-mint.

That's because it's impossible to create a coin with only one die, just like it's impossible to clap with only one hand. To "strike" a coin like that, a specially prepared completely blank die would have had to have been made.

As confirmation, weigh the coin. This coin is supposed to weigh 11.60 grams; a coin polished flat on one side would have lost a measurable amount of silver.
