I'll say, you could buy the whole set in NRMT/MT condition with PSA 8 key cards for that price. Maybe...

I can not believe it is going for that much!
  • I agree with Oaksey, you might find a few 10's in that box and then it is indeed a goldmine. Check SMR for some of the 1971 Topps cards selling for 3-4k
  • gary, is that you?

i thought the consensus was that this box was a ripoff and the seller was a resealer.

Zero percent chance of that happening. I can buy a lot of 71 singles, 24 71 wrappers and sell you an "unopened" box for a fraction of the price this poor soul is paying. This seller is a notorious resealer known to experienced unopened collectors in the hobby.

Amazing that folks continue to get ripped by this scam.

  • oh ok well if he is indeed a re seller than obviously it isn't a good deal. IF he WASN'T then it would be a gold mine no?
  • Out of boredom, I sent the winner of this box an email with a link to the threads on here regarding this box. He sent me a response saying that he emailed the seller. He told the seller he would like the box sent for 3rd party authentication at buyers expense before he paid for the item. The seller has not replied.

Good idea on his part. He probably never will hear from the guy again.

  • Nice pics of the 71 OPC box. The one pack the seller chose to show the back of the packs is probably the one that is most obviously resealed.

Edit to add: I know who the high bidder is nowimage

I dont think I'd be able to bid an auction with the pertinents:

Items are sold as is, without warranty or guarantee. The reason is because I’m not the original owner of the items unless otherwise noted.

The 1979 hockey partial box is same.

Feedback is a good thing for those who read itimage

How do you know he's a resealer? Are there any reviews out there about him? Not arguing just curious.

This guy is a notorious resealer. There is NO chance that these packs are legit. It's an outrage that sellers can get away with this crap.

i hate it when ebay sellers mask their location with some BS...

especially when they cant spell......"Low counrty, United States"

Tvac, please post more, your so informative...
  • Just thought I would revive this thread temporarily since I know who the winner was image Asked the seller the same question the winner of the other 1971 box asked. Could he send it to a 3rd party authenticator at the winners expense before payment is sent. Of course there was no response.

I like that idea, though don't hold yr breath for a response! I'm sure he'll just relist it again, and by now he may have bought another 24 wrappers, too. Sooner or later, he'll find a buyer who doesn't know any better, and gets ripped off to the tune of 2K. Guess these guys haven't heard about that dealer from PA who was sentenced to jail time for ripping off customers online. We can only hope.
