Anyone knowledgable about '69 Topps decals?

I have a small stash of them, with most of the players except Mantle and Clemente. Most appear to be in high grade. Should I have them graded? Do they sell for near SMR values? Are they even sought after?

Thanks for any input.

If you're wanting to build a PSA 10 Registry Set and you think you have a few that would make the grade, I'd say yes, otherwise I don't think the values would outweigh the grading costs.

Here's an idea of some of the key cards recent sales averages as per VCP.

a PSA 10 Aaron sold for $378.35, while a PSA 9 fetched an average of $58.79

    a PSA 10 Drysdale only averaged a whopping $42.79

a PSA 10 R. Jackson (rookie year) sold on July 9, 2008 for $96.75, which was a tad higher than the last 5 sold avg of $87.16

a PSA 10 Mays averages right around $100.00

If you have a Tony Gonzalez or a Pete Ward and you think either/or is a strong candidate for a PSA 10, you might want to get it graded because there are no PSA 10s currently. (might fetch a decent price for Registry buffs)

I have a set of these (48), but put it together a long time ago, and all are ungraded. They were pack inserts. SCD reports that "two original 10,000 piece rolls- 833 each of half the players in the set", were sold at an auction. It astericks those items in the checklist. Mantle and Clemente were not included.

  • Thanks guys. I do have a Ward, but it wouldn"t be a 10. They don't seem to sell for anywhere near SMR, which isn't a shock.
