has anyone had a slabbed card damaged in shipping.. sent in a bubble mailer??
this is my first time having such an issue.. was told the holder was cracked in 3 placed and the card bent in half..
I am pretty bummed.. and out a decent amount of money..
I did not insure the card only d/c since I had never had an issue prior..

Yep, it happens.. I always sandwich them between cardboard before putting in a bubble mailer or use a box..

I once received a psa graded card damaged in shipping but not as severe as yours. Was it shipped with other cards or by itself?

it was just a single card... a lot of times I add an extra 1/2 slab from previous crackouts but not sure if I did on this one..

I didn't experience this personally, but a collector friend of mine did.

Last week he received a PSA 9 card in a bubble mailer from DSL. It arrived badly damaged. My friend sent me scans of the card, which showed the holder severely cracked on both sides and a very prominent crease now running through the center of the card. It looked as if a large, heavy package had landed corner-first on the bubble mailer. The card had been wrapped in a single layer of bubble wrap with no cardboard or similar material incasing it.

Thankfully for my friend DSL issued a full refund with no hassles. I learned a valuable lesson about packing cards, too. Sometimes I cut corners when shipping graded cards and don't always use cardboard. I will be more conscientious from now on.

The damaged card is always the uninsured card. Its Murh's way

Its best to reinforce the card when mailing in a bubble mailer. I put a card sideways into a zero bubble mailer, fold it in half, then stick it in another zero bubble mailer.

Works great! and its quick and easy and no messing with cutting up cardboard

Yes, twice, once on the receiving end, didn't even bother the seller as the card was not damaged the holder was cracked though (10.00 card). Then once about 2 or 3 month's ago sent a 20.00 card to New York and the buyer contacted that it was broke in two pieces he emailed me a photo and I told him to keep the card and refunded the money. All I can say is bite the bullet have the buyer return the card and refund his money ( if it is through Paypal he will win the claim anyway), if he sent you a check you could keep the money and take the Neg and lose a customer for life and maybe a few more. Part of doing business (chit happens). JMOimage

yeah.. this is a learning experience unfortunately..
I am refunding this buyer as well.. I should have insured it.. thats my fault
but I was already giving free shipping on request..
a lot of times I insure it out of my own pocket even if the buyer doesnt take it..
but felt secure on this one.. it was a board member that contacted me thru ebay and asked if i would
discount shipping for a psa member...
so I guess I feel ok that it was a legit issue.. but like I said.. never had a problem getting one delivered either
    or selling..

    Stuff like this happens.

I always use LOTS of cardboard to minimize the risk, but there is no 100% sure thing.

I think that sometimes the way the USPS handles bubble mailers, you could wrap your card with titanium and it would STILL get damaged

You'd probably lose and insurance case with the PO anyway. They would use the "improper packaging" excuse with you. They would probably say it should have been at least protected with cardboard, and it probably should have been in a box. There is a nice gray area for them there, and they will always use an excuse if they can.
