OT-Anyone ever graded action figures?

I have a couple I am thinking about submitting to AFA, but have not heard from anyone who does it often to find out about the service and what they look for on their grades.

Im assuming you're referring to unopened figures. From the ones that I've seen, it's all about the package. It's pretty much graded like a card would be.

  • I believe AFA grades both loose or unopened figures. Also, people send in unopened figures to AFA to have them opened on site and then have the loose figure graded as uncirculated. They do this rather than getting a low grade on the unopened figure.
  • Yeah you can get loose or carded figures graded.

They also offer the untouched designation. You send in a case of figures unopened or some lower grade carded figures and they will open them using white gloves and grade them. Untouched items usually bring a premium over just regular graded items.

I have only submitted loose star wars figures. I seem to get alot of 85 NM+ grades for some reason.
  • I have never actually looked closely at a figure graded by them. I have a Darth Malak and Darth Revan from the new sets that are both in great shape I am thinking about sending them in to see how my standards compare to theirs. Like PSA you need to see a few to really start grasping the system.

They better be worth money even in low grade to make it worthwhile.

You are looking at on/about 25.00-30.00 per figure including shipping. Like you, I have a few, but not
    worth it in my eyes.

    Good luck.

  • Yeah the price does seem a bit high and the return on some does make it worthwhile. If you can buy figures by the case at a good discountand get them graded untouched it might be worthwile, but other than that you won't make alot unless it is extremely rare.

Yes, they all should be graded, all action figures are extremely easy to counterfeit...... far easier than a card.

There are a ton of fake ones out there so be careful. image

  • Anyone have a pic of a graded figure? I'd like to see what it looks like after it's graded.
Atlanta Braves, Charlotte Hornets, Shawn Kemp, Dale Murphy, and Bobby Engram.

Here is an auction with some good pics of the holder and the certificate. Speaking of Baroness anyone seen the promo shots of her and Scarlett for the upcoming live action movie?

I'm amazed they have no registry. Can you imagine the Star Wars fans grading action figures to be the highest on that puppy!?
