Mets Factor

The six lowest pop cards in PSA 8 for 1965 are (unless I missed something):
Average selling price (last 5) from VCP
14-Len Gabrielson Pop 27 - 133.18
21-Don Blasingame Pop 29- 115.81
22-Charlie Smith Pop 30- 388.31
91-Sonnie Siebert Pop 31- 105.38
218-Dick Schofield Pop 32- 42.38
257-Jim Wynn Pop 28 - 59.75
I am guessing that Smith is so high because he was on the Mets. I find it odd that Wynn, who was a vastly underrated player (lots of walks. played in the Astrodome) and by far the best player of the six, is much cheaper that four of the other five. Note that he is the 2nd lowest pop. What drives the prices of 12, 21, and 91. Why is Schofield so cheap?

The Wagner especially is rarely found centered.
As for the Smith it was at one time a 1000.00 card and people remember that I guess.
I once saw a Gabrielson go for around 400.00.
Steve
For example, I personally havent bought or collected a Topps card in over 20 years....... yet I have a couple boxes (3,000+) of NRMT+/MINT 1964-1969 Topps low # commons at my parrents house that were straight from early 1980s unopened breaks. I havent looked at them in 20+ years, but I am going to have to take a look and see if I can get $50+ for what had always been a $1-$3 card prePSA.

Let me know if you have interest in selling any of them. I need plenty of commons for those years, many of which are not particularly difficult. Send me a PM if you are interested. Thanks.
