Earthbound on SNES, an english version of the Japanese 'Mother' series.

Not an PRG fan, but this game is amazing.

I also enjoy all of the Mario Kart games, esp. for n64.

NCAA Football is a favorite too.

Golden Eye for the Nintendo 64. It was the game that got me into FPS. Halo 3 is the game that I play the most now. My user name is cwazzy if anyone wants to play.

Today, my favorite game is Snarkles.

It shows me how to leave binary feedback for the criminal "buyers" that are stealing from me on EBAY.

Since sellers who leave honest FB are being suspended, I need a workaround.

This is a binary statement that can be entered into the Snarkles game and decoded:

    01010100 01101000 01101001 01100101 01100110 00100001

Of all time??? I've never heard of these games! You guys must be really young if you're not mentioning Mike Tyson's Punchout or Super Mario Brothers. Galaga would be up there if you wanna include arcade games.

    CLASSIC
    1.) Zelda 2
    2.) R.B.I. Baseball
    3.) Mike Tyson's Punch Out
    4.) Zelda 1
    5.) Super Mario Bros 2

    RECENT
    Grand Theft Auto 3

I liked Vice City a lot and I didn't like San Andreas (too much going on - overkill) but GTA 4 has found the right balance. The story is amazing

    Guitar Hero

I just picked up Aerosmith and didn't fail once in the career Expert mode until the final song. The game was too easy. I still can't beat the Slayer song on Guitar Hero 3. It's just that and Metallica's One and I would be finished with that forever

It's not the same thing. Adults know the difference. I have a real guitar and bass, but don't have the patience to learn them at the moment. I dabble--I have Guitar Port, but with two young kids, it's impossible to put the mental energy into learning.

The games are for fun, and it's no different than karaoke for singing--you're just playing a plastic instrument.

It's fun, but I can see how it's an affront to real players.

You're right it's not the same thing so why belittle someone who loves music and loves the guitar but just doesn't have the gift to play the real thing at a satisfying level??
I've dabbled in guitar since I was probably 16 and realized 20 years later that you either have the gift or you don't. Sure I can make some decent noise but I will never be as good as I need to be to make me happy. So games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band are a nice little fantasy into something I would love to be but never will be. A great guitar player. I'm sorry if that's too low-brow for someone of your gifted nature.

I'm not offended. His blind blasting of the game is the same as someone who thinks these games are real.

If you REALLY want to look at these guitar games objectively, you'll realize that they CAN assist you to learn to play a real instrument...

    1. They can teach up/down strumming
    2. They can help you develop/understand timing/rhythm
    3. They can aid with finger dexterity and independence

But the game won't TEACH you how to play. To learn to play a real instrument, you have to practice and play the real instrument.

I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone. If you enjoy playing, by all means play. I can certainly see the point both of you made. It just kind of annoys me that alot of people really do genuinely think that Guitar Hero is the same as really playing.

One thing that I love about Guitar Hero is that because of it, alot of young kids now know some awesome old-school rock songs.
  • Zelda 1 (NES)
    Dragon Warrior (NES)
    Warcraft 2 (PC)
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (PC)

edit: after seeing Frodo's post... I have to add Final Fantasy 7 (Playstation) and Gran Turismo (Playstation)
    White Whales:
1996 Select Certified Mirror Gold Ozzie Smith
2006 Bowman Chrome Orange Refractor Chris Carpenter
  • Hard to pick just one. I guess I'd have to say Final Fantasy 7 for Playstation. That game was so epic it came on four disks.

I'm more of a fan of series....Call Of Duty, Final Fantasy, Splinter Cell, Medal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, and Golden Sun are my favorites

Favorite current game is Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

That's cool dude. No offense taken. And trust me I played around with a real guitar for many years and it's nowhere close to being the same but it's fun. As I said I love music and it's as close as I will ever get to being any good. If you can play the real thing and do it well then God bless!

What is the deal with a small handful of people on this board and IWDMBII? I remember seeing a guy say that over and over again on a show called "The State" on MTV many years ago. They can't possibly be referring to that obscure show. What am I missing?

Too hard to pick just one.

    -Mario II and III

-GTA III through IV. I like each one for different reasons. The 80's music in vice City, the variety in San Andreas. GTA IV, the story line and detail (Hey cousin!)

-Street Fighter II. Could still play it today. When I go to arcades, I'll look for it and play it. One of the first arcade games I look for.

I haven't gotten into the sports games (Madden), war games (Medal of Honor), Matrix types games (I always joke with my brother....games where the guy is in a trenchcoat, glasses, slow-mo bullets, diving or leaning back), or racing games (Gran Turismo).

And Final Fantasy and computer games, never got into.

And a bunch of new games I haven't kept up with.

Man, totally forgot about C64. I used to love Pirates. And the old EPYX olympic-style games.

I can't even remember the first baseball game to keep track of stats - maybe one of the RBI's for Nintendo, or was it Baseball Stars? - but that was a revelation.

More recently, gotta go with GTA3. Still the best, though GTA4 is incredible. And I still play a ton of FIFA.

I have a table top Pac Man in my living room. I have had it 10 years. Works pretty well but has some graphics issues when it overheats; makes me love it more! Though far from the first it is THE game that created the video game explosion. Many other great games but Pac Man has to be #1.
