Attention Sillie fans...

Hope you enjoyed your days in the sun, 'cause it's about to get a lot bleaker in Philly over the next few weeks.

Honestly, though, you didn't really think the Sillies were going to hold off New York all season, now, did you?

It's a weak division, but somebody's gotta take it, and that team will be the Mets.

Postseason baseball in the last season at Shea...ah, I can feel it coming!!

steve we at home for the next 6 games before the break. giants and rocks. phils have cards and dbacks. take care of biz we might be ahead by the break!

but if mets dont do something about the outfield nothing will happen. alou and church look like they are done for the year. running chris aguila anderson and tatis out there isnt gonna net a world series ring.

they need to go after jason bay adam dunn etc.. or just signed the devil (bonds)to play lf! very nice series against the sillies. the 1 game i was over confident about we lost. almost was a sweep.

like i said earlier in the year. doesnt look like anyone is going to run away with this division. all these teams have bad holes in there game. mets have better sp. braves phils have better offense. bullpens all hit or miss. should be a fun september! and dont count out the fish they arent going away

Mets are weak, you faced our worst pitcher and still almost blew it. We own Wagner and your bats shut down the first sign of trouble. How about you all actually
get to first place before you start talking playoffs.

I've got one thing to say:

    Philadelphia 48 42 .533 - 23-21 25-21 17-14 15-11 12-6 5-5 L 3
    Florida 46 43 .517 1½ 26-20 20-23 19-14 11-10 11-9 5-5 W 2
    N.Y. Mets 45 44 .506 2½ 22-18 23-26 18-16 6-8 12-14 6-4 W 3
    Atlanta 42 48 .467 6 30-18 12-30 16-19 9-16 9-6 3-7 L 1
    Washington 34 56 .378 14 18-26 16-30 14-21 10-17 2-8 3-7

    We're still there.

If you remember and I'm sure you do, the Phillies won the East last season by a game...that's good enough for me...and right now the Phillies are in first place...and that's good enough for me.

Phillies can win the NL East by 1 game or 10 games or 25 games, either which way is fine by me.

I said 'on with the giants' meaning we play them next.

    not 'on to the Giants'

In any event the Sillies are going down.

Have fun with the Cards guys.

    Steve

ahhh I see I ended it with 'lets win there' that threw ya for a curve.

I was basically reffering to Bobby Kennedy and how he said "on to Cali and lets win there'

What a pathetic division. Hard to belive the NL West is even worse. Maybe the Mets will repeat 1973 and win the division with 83 wins.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Coin this morning I was thinking that 85 or 6 wins will win this division.

I'm thinking the Sillies will wind up with 84.

WinPitcher - How come there's no Topps baseball cards of the Mets in the 1950's? I could never figure that one out. There's plenty of Topps baseball cards of the Phillies in the 1950's, but no Mets cards.

Gee, I guess I was going to refer to dem Brooklyn Dodgers in some way and how they left New York? The Mets as you know would have never existed if the Brooklyn Dodgers hadn't left New York. Yes they had a loyal fan base, but nothing in number compared to the Yankees fan base. New York is a Yankees town, not a Mets town...always has been, always will be. The Mets could move to Sacramento California for all most New Yorkers care.

Dam right I'm bitter - Waiting decade upon decade for a championship will do that to you. If the stinkin' Pets take a championship bid away from my Phillies, if there's a parade in New York, I'm going to drive up there and throw tomatoes at the players.

Actually you are partly correct, the early 60's baseball expansion was a direct result of baseball not allowing
a 3rd major league to start up. In case you didn't know it was the Continental league.

Just a waste of time, if you threw tomatoes at the Mets, they'd probably swing and miss. You guys are wasting your time, the
Mets or Phillies are going nowhere this year. Not enough pitching to get past the Cards, Cubs, or Brewcrew.

But that 1962 Mets team had more heart, much more heart, than this 2008 Mets team which is why, despite their talent, the 2008 Mets will not win the NL East.

Ryan Howard is on fire. Leading the majors in Homers and the NL in RBI (including a Phillies team record before the AS break) and this guy doesn't make the All Star team? The snub may motivate him to keep out the whipping stick all the way into the playoffs.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
And you know that how? was in reference to the amount of heart the 62 team had
as opposed to how much this team does.

Not sure what Ryan Howard has to do with any of it?

Frustrating? We just finished slapping you around 3 out of 4, and have now won 7 straight. Your lead has dwindled from 6.5 games to 1.5 in a bout 10 days, and you're about to be overtaken. LOL!!
