Picked up a new Conder Token today**** received the coin**** very nice indeed

Here are my images. A truly beautiful coin. I am very happy that the sellers images didn't capture its
luster and color. I would have had to pay a lot more money for it.

1 - PAYABLE AT BANBURY OXFORD OR READING (Common)
1a - Plain (not in collar) (Rare)
The diesinker was Arnold and the token was manufactured by William Lutwyche of Birmingham. It features a 3/4 bust of William Rusher and the Arms and motto of Banbury - a sun in splendor. The mintage was approx. 25,750 pieces.
From a previous description of this token on eBay by a different seller:
William Rusher was a bookseller and stationer who was active in Oxfordshire and Berkshire at the turn of the 18th. century. Initially a school master he married Mary Golby in 1783 in Banbury and then turned to printing directories. Financed by his banker brother Philip he successfully developed the business into printing cheap books and eventually retired in 1822. The business continued in Market Place, run by his two sons.

Although I'm not a big collector of edge varieties, I once did a search for what D&H describes as the "rare" 1a)
plain edge variety of this token. Not in Noble, Spence, Spingarn, Bell, Sriro! As I see it, that means a whole
lot rarer than rare. Despite D&H, it makes me wonder if this variety exists at all! Can anyone provide an
auction sighting or other reference?
