Ok....here's his response: " sorry i seen something else you had 2 things in fact but if you are this petty then my money want do you no good i will be sure to add you to my block list too so i want make the mistake in in buying from you in the future oh and ebay has never had a problem with me retracing a bid in 6 years that i been a member have a nice life "
Looks like that bidder not only has no clue about how eBay works and what they can/can't do, but also like they missed most of their English, spelling and grammar classes starting at a very early age.

But even then, some people who saw the item rise above their maximums may give up on it, assuming it's already ran past their maximum. So they're much less likely to snipe at it, and the number of potential bidders to duke it out at the end is diminished, still somewhat likely to cause some damage to the seller.
