Another Call me crazy but I'm sending this TTM thread (this time 1954 Ernie Banks) UPDATE: It's back

I bought this card to have signed for my HOF rookie collection but I got one already PSA/DNA'd on ebay this week so I figure what the heck, I'll send this one and see if he'll sign it for me and then I'll have a nice one for trade. Card is in decent shape but is miscut top to bottom. I cracked it out of a BVG slab. That dip in the yellow is not from an uneven trim, that is a slight indentation from pushing it into a card holder, I need to mash it back image , I don't believe it is trimmed just miscut, however, will look nice if signed. Dropped it in the mailbox this evening so I'll keep the thread updated one way or the other.

Do they still make Beckett Baseball Card Monthly?? I used to always get it as a kid, but I haven't bought a price guide in years. I'd like to see what "Book" is on the cards in my rookie collection. No, they aren't for sale, just want to see what it says out of curiousity.

I included a check for $25.00. I hope that will help.

It cost me $138.10. It used to be a BVG 1.5. Other than a miscut and the 4 rounded corners, the other problem is an indentation (looked like something with a heavy edge was sitting on it) that runs on the left side of the card that can't be seen in the scan, but is obvious when its in hand. Here's a pic before I cracked it out.

mike, I have heard Ernie has turned sour on TTM's lately, I think his wife reads all his requests and may send some back. He used to be good as gold, Maybe you will catch him in a good mood.

I knew a long time ago he was good at signing, he probaly still does some shows, but if you are lucky you cold probaly just him to sign alot cheaper through the mail than at public signing

I read that as well, but that seems to be for stuff sent to his foundation in California, there is also an address in Chicago that seems to have some recent successes according to sportscollectors.net I think he lives in California but he makes occasional appearances in Chicago, so maybe he takes care of his mail in Chicago when he is there and his wife is in CA. I haven't seen any recent successes through CA. I sent it to Chicago hoping to catch him there.

    Take care,

    Mike,

Yep, I have all 3 of those, if he signs it for me, I'll take a look at what you have at that time and maybe we can come up with something. Take care,

Just an update. Still no response from Ernie and he hasn't cashed my check yet either. Looks like I might have finally lost one. Oh well, when you roll the dice, sometimes you are going to crap out. That's just part of the game. I'll update in the future if I ever do get a response.

What a nice Valentine's Day surprise today. 226 days after I sent it out. I had long ago written this one off. Beautiful signature and a definite upgrade to my collection. Interesting in that I sent it to Chicago, but the return came from California. Also, came back in a plain, white envelope when I had included a different SASE brown bubble mailer. He must have lost the return envelope and realized that I had put a check behind the card folded up in the cardsaver, as it was returned to my formal name and address that I have preprinted on my check. Awesome success, I'm excited. I have often regretted sending it, but not anymore. Here it is:

Ernie actually put some thought into signing it in the perfect place. That one really looks great. Congrats.

You can't ask for a better looking signature or placement on that card. Very nice success.

Ah, here this info is. I thought I remembered you letting us know you were sending this off but then I couldn't find it earlier in the Consolidated thread and I thought maybe I'd imagined it all.

Great looking card. He signed the same spot on the one you had then, with the waterstain.
