Matte Proof Lincoln's for the week of 7-2

WaterSportWaterSport Posts: 6,757 ✭✭✭✭✭
One less than last week (28). What was sold at the FUN auction was quickly made with Mattes to be auction at the ANA – Baltimore Heritage auction. Amazingly, a full set of MPL’s can still be had. But half the list (15 coins) will be gone in 5 weeks. Then what?

If you see one or buy one, let me know so I can keep the list updated.

Until next week!

Besides the 1916 being offered by IRAS here on the Forum, I got this info sent to em.

    WS

auction catalog for the Michael Aron Rare Coin auction in Van Nuys, CA on July 20, 2008.

The catalog lists a 1915 Matte Proof 63BN

It doesn't say whether or not it has been slabbed as such.

Two more mattes listed at http://www.pinnacle-rarities.com/CoinSearch.aspx

    1911 MATTE PROOF Lincoln 1C PCGS PR66RB
A technically exceptional example with phenomenal detail and nearly flawless surfaces. Rich mahogany-red color swirls atop the obverse and reverse. One of sixteen so graded by PCGS with one higher. PCGS 66 $3,250.00
    1912 MATTE PROOF Lincoln 1C PCGS PR64RD
A bright luminescent surfaces display full red color, seldom seen on proof issues of this year. In fact, PCGS has graded just 52 examples with the red color designation, 32 at this level and seventeen higher. PCGS 64 $3,750.00

Since MPL's were produced only for 1909-1916 (maybe 1917), the number of dates in the series is small. This small number of dates makes it easier (but still time consuming) to keep track of the public sales of same (on TT, Heritage, EBay and other auctions) and give reports such as that in this thread.

Is anyone on the forums putting in the effort to track and report on public sales of a series of collectible coins other than MPL? If so, who is doing the leg work and what series is being covered?

It is of much benefit to forum MPL fans to see weekly reports on what is happening with these coins. Wish I had one or two of them, or even a complete set.

Frankly, I enjoy the effort and wonder why others in their collecting specialties would not want to do the same like a 1916 D dime list or a 32 D&S Quarter list, etc. Not only does it give a better idea of retail pricing, but the location of a coin needed to fill that hole. Thanks to everyones participation, it only takes me about an hour to double check the availability of the coins, add the updates, and post it. I have a couple of emails I send out the day before, I check the sites most likely to sell MPL's and forum members add what I missed. Its not rocket science. Besides, most of us pi$$ away an hour each day on the forum anyway.
