worth?
How much silver is in each?

I'm going to list a bunch of silver and wondered if to just include this with the whole lot of silver?
Good idea?

Thanks.

I believe some of these sell near melt, but others may command a premium.

the $10 silver strikes contain six-tenths of an ounce of silver. they usually sell for a small premium above spot price of silver. but there collectible and even "rare" silver strikes that sell for a lot of money.

    first, check ebay.

then, there are some collector groups that have web sites with information about prices and rarity.

silver strikes that are "special editions" for certain events such as a concert, or sporting event, generally command a premium.

generic silver strikes usually fill a box or two at coin dealers in the California and Nevada areas.

there are silver strikes in other denominations such as 7.50 and 25 and even 100 and 500 and these can demand a premium for being "unusual," as well as their silver content as they come in different sizes that the common $10 strikes.

There is a forum member here that has listed on the BST that he purchases these. Last December I sold him what I had at face value. About what the melt value was at the time I think. I did not find the ones I had to be of collector premiums.

These silver centers would have made for some nice looking Presidential Dollars....never mind...I forgot we don't use any form of precious metals in our tokens anymore. image

Ok, so I take it that these are your basic gaming tokens and have a bullion value
and will list them with the rest of the silver bullion.

They came, may still do, from slot machines at just about every casino in Nevada, including the airport. They came out of the slots in the cases so they should be in great shape. There are some generic and some that are part of sets. The set pieces are worth listing separately because they have the potential of gaining bids from other hobbies. Like, the Babe Ruth set may attract baseball collectors. Then there's NASA themes and whatnot.

BE CAREFUL OF ANY THAT YOU MAY COME ACROSS LABELED AS "GERMAN SILVER"! They are clad crap. Excalibur was bad about issuing German Silver. They look different than what you have- they look for pewter than silver and don't mention the $10 value.

These $10 tokens were honored as being face value by the casinos so that you could win won at Circus Circus and use it to pay for drinks at Binion's or whatever, whereas you can not do that with gaming chips.
