Info Needed about 1989 UPPER DECK KEN GRIFFEY

Hello , everyone I rember back a few years ago I was reading in beckett or tuffstuff that there was two 89 griffey rookie one 1 and the other 1A. The one was the reg card but the 1A was the same card but a lil bigger and some purple so you can tell the diff. Whatever happen to that card? I never heard anything else about it and never seen it on ebay. Anyone here know what I'm talking about?

This is what I was referring to: PURPLE CAP
My challenge to this rumor is that there were NEVER any significant caches of this card that showed up. I recall buying team sets back in 1989 from someone in CA named Blair Fedder through a presell ad in SCD. I know that he was part of a bulk program with UD and received his cards sorted by player in 800 count boxes. I purchased 100 team sets lots (with Super Rookies) of Seattle, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Mets, and Detroit. I recall that everything was shipped from the first run and that I was shorted on the Braves and Tigers due to the Murphy and Sheridan errors. I think Blair sent me only 10 sets of the Braves and Tigers with the errors and then forwarded 90 sets a month or two later to fill the order after UD made the error corrections.
Over the years, had UD printed "extras" as was suggested in the early 1990's, one would think that large bulk lots would've shown up, but they never really did. I think much of the secondary "bulk" came from those using the collation patterns to search boxes and then sell the remaining loose packs or refill the boxes and sell them as "unopened" boxes.
If I recall correctly, there was also a trademark/registered variation with regard to the team/Super Rookie logos, but I may be mistaking that for another issue... It's been a long time since I worried about such things.
