1982 Topps Traded 98T Cal Ripken, simply a beautiful card IMO.
Collecting Interests: Ripken, Brooks & Frank Robinson, Old Orioles, Sweet Spot Autos, older Redskins - Riggins, Sonny, Baugh etc and anything that catches my eye.

I will keep mine limited to baseball cards from 1956-1985 because that is what I primarily collect. Also, I will base it on a combination of star power, appearance of the card and value. My own criteria, but the question is broad. I am avoiding multiple player rookie cards because in my opinion single cards are more attractive - again, to be in my top 10 appearance is important.
1) 1957 Topps Mickey Mantle - Beautiful swinging pose from a classic set. Pretty affordable in a PSA 5.
2) 1956 Topps Roberto Clemente - Awesome looking card with him jumping against the wall. Affordable 2nd year issue.
3) 1957 Topps Ted Williams - Classc pose of Ted casually swinging the bat + it is #1 in the set.
4) 1962 Topps Roger Maris - Another card with a great pose and the first to show 61 home runs on the back + it is #1 in the set.
5) 1964 Topps Pete Rose - Typically not a fan of the headshot, but the purple coloring, rookie trophy and overall appearance of the card is striking. Plus, it is the second year card of the all time hit king.
6) 1969 Topps Nolan Ryan - Much nicer card than his rookie and still pretty valuable.
7) 1965 Topps Willie Mays - Another striking card of Mays the year he was MVP and smacked 50 home runs
8) 1982 Topps Traded Ripken - Great looking pose, most valuable card of an all time great and class act!
9) 1963 Topps Sandy Koufax - Great looking set and captures the quiet confidence of Koufax in his prime.
10) 1975 Topps George Brett - I know the Schmidt is more valuable, but this to me is the card of the seventies of one of the most popular players. Plus it is more attractive than the multi player Scmidt.

While i disagree with some of your picks, the main one i don't understand is why a 1941 Dimaggio over a 1939 Dimaggio? Not sure you could get a T205 cobb, an 1887 anson or 1933 Ruth with nice eye appeal for under $1000? Well, then again, eye appeal is a personal preference. (lol) To me a card would need to be clean, centered, and the only thing bringing down the grade is corners, or something hidden....with lots of searching a nice 3 could do the trick for me.
