Grading Cards

I was a collector for many years and then i took a break for about 17 years and I have recently gotten the urge to collect again. I was looking to get my cards graded but I don't know much about it. I read PSA's standards about how they grade, but it is kind of confuseing and seems to be kind of vague. Is there an easier way to grade my own cards to see what cards are worth sending in and what is not? Are there samples on line to see what a 10,9,8 and 7... should look like. Also is there a difference in quality and value getting your cards graded by PSA rather then GAI. GAI seems to be alot cheaper. I am sure this question has came up alot and i tryed doing the search but had no luck. Thanks

The easiest way to find out what's worth grading and what's not is to take your cards to a large show and find out which ones the dealers want to buy. Odds are, they'll look to cherry pick the best cards.
Trying to learn on the fly is a tough process and it takes time and patience and getting smacked a few times while climbing the learning curve.
If you have any questions or have some scans, I'd be happy to help you out via PM or you can post some scans on the boards to get feedback. But remember, scans can be misleading and may not always give an accurate representation of the card.
Good luck and welcome!
Sorry, the bi-weekly BGS bashing thread hasn't been started by a BGS hater yet so I figure I'd just hijack this guy's thread. Have at it!!

Why the insults? What did I ever do to you? No need to get nasty! Where you this nasty when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
