OT...sort of...photo question

For quite a while I have heard many talk about the advantage of using OTT lights for coin photos.

I have finally found somewhere in the UK that sells them and would like to know which type you would recommend.

They photos are a copy from the web site and not very good.

First is a clamp on type which I am thinking would be best.

Next looks like a form of table light.

I haven't found a site that will ship them to me here in Norway yet but I am working on it.

Which type do you think would be best?

Personal opinion here Wayne. Unless you are going to do Professional photos, I think it is a waste of money. Your camera has enough setting on it to get great photos using a candleimage. My latest light source, that I am quite happy with, is the new screw in florecants. They give a clean white light that you have seen in my photos.

Here is a shot taken on top of my kitchen stove using the light from the vent cover. It is the type of bulb I mentioned. It is a Helical 10W. It is very hard to get good gold shots without using natural light, but this bulb shows that gold can be pictured with this lamp.

I have seen your photos bozand I am very impressed. For some reason I am having big lighting issues with my new Cannon.

I am sure it is me and I have not given up yet. That said I have heard a lot speak highly of OTT lights........but they aren't cheapimage

Your camera is muliple times better than the one I have. I don't think it is your light that is the problem. You may just need practice with the White settings and stop being too critcal of yourself. They are not worth the money to take phots for here.image
