  • I'm not sure. I missed the beginning of it but some lady had 360 1959 Cello packs. One with Unitas on the front and one with Starr on the front were shown.
  • It says it's from Houston, Tx in 2006. The lady had 6 unopened 1958 Topps FB Cellos with her at the Antiques Roadshow. She also stated that she had a total of 315 unopened '58 cellos at home. Nice!

  • Right. That's the one. '58's not 59's. Whatever happened to those?
  • Jim Brown RC year

It's a rerun from Houston 2006. I think they were 58 Topps. She brought in 6 one with Starr on the front and one with Unitas. The appraiser valued the packs at $500 to a $1000 a piece indicating if she had one with a Jim Brown rookie on top it could be worth several thousand.

She said she had 312 of them image
  • Heritage auctioned off A 60 pack lot from this find (all PSA graded) last year...they went for somewhere over $14 K (which was probably a Bargain, UNTIL you realize she said she had 300++ packs)...they also auctioned off a low grade (PSA 4 ) pack with Jim Brown (yes THE Rookie) on top, just over 3K

She could possibly make a set with just the top card of the pack. That would be incredible.

This was a re run as stated.

Those packs are long gone I'd imagine.

She should not have told anyone that she had 312 more at home.

    Good for you.
  • Any chance these packs were from this find?

That's funny. We should give macboube a little slack....if for nothing else that they were cheated from the cover. The war of wars article was terrible. I imagine Paloger's name was brought up 150 times in it.

Seriously, do you mind saying exactly how many cellos were in the 1955 All-American find? She had 360 cellos, yet I can't find a number reference in the article on your find. Hard to compare the two with current information.

If someone said; Would you like 360 1958 Football cello packs...or boxes and packs of 1955 All-American cello....I would have to pick the 1958. I love the All-American set....but they are mostly after playing cards and 360 is a better number then boxes and packs. Maybe I missed the number of cellos in the article?

I agree........I would rather have multiple chances of getting Minty Jim Brown rookies than any of the 55 topps AA cards. I have always viewed the 55 topps AA the same way..not a ""real" issue because it was a post career issue.

Don't get me wrong...I would love to have either finds! Now the BMW cards Wichita find of 52 Bowman football would be the one I would want the most!

I believe his find was BETTER than the 55 topps find. image

of course it was not unopened product, but I would still rather have it.

  • The quantity of our '55 AA find has been kept under wraps for obvious reasons. Lets just say it was more than a few packs. In fact, the article alludes to an offer of a nice round number of packs from a certain high powered gentleman (that you all would know).

Of course this sounds bias, but I would certainly rather have '55 AA packs over the '58's - Jim Brown rookie or not. The list of rookie cards (including HOF'ers) is pretty amazing in the 55's, as Hutson's one and only stands pretty large. The raw beauty of the Thorpe and Four Horseman card leaves any/all '58's in the dust.

FYI - I have heard the quality of the cards in the '58's leaves a lot to be desired, and I cannot recall for certain, but I do not think there were any J. Browns in those cellos at all. Big Daddy, perhaps you know which cards were and were not in the cellos?
