Auction for a 1912 L1 Helmar Grover C. Alexander Leather Baseball Card Goes for $10,098.00...

I'd imagine a 1912 L1 Helmar Grover C Alexander Leather Baseball Card is truly rare given that it just went for $10,098.00, correct? Or was that just a bunch of B.S. bidding?

They are rare and go for extreme amounts...Only time i have seen them were at the National show ( usually at 1 table).
L1 Leathers are very rare.

IMO The seller screwed up bigtime by listing 5 different L1's in the same week.
They are extremely rare and highly desired, but by listing a Lajoie, Baker, McGraw, Mitchell, and the Alexander all at roughly the same time (4 ended within an hour of each other), he killed the competitive bidding wars by fat wallets associated with highly desired rare items.
He would have made 25% more total if he waited and listed them once every 3-4 months.
PS A L1 Walter Johnson (with pinholes) sold for $22,000+ 3 years ago (REA, 2005).
The GC Alexander is IMO a better item than the $10,000+ bid........ mainly because it is considered his rookie.
