    Being in an ICG slab, I would say there is a 95% probability of it being authentic.

    Yeah, it's ICG.....I didn't want it to sound like I was slamming them or anything. I like ICG, but the man I talked to seemed not as enthusiastic about it.
  • On the site I linked to, I came VERY close to an obverse (Medusa head) match on #8, 42, and one other I think. No similar reverse (anchor) that I could see.

    They are very similar, but they are not exact matches. Similar enough to raise some concern as there are stylistic elements very similar to the forgeries, but no concrete evidence that your coin is a forgery. I have the books referenced by the website writeup and I couldn't find a die match in there either.

  • Thanks guys for looking into this for me, I appreciate it. I didn't realize that there was an issue with counterfeits of this coin until last weekend. Very interesting....I'll need to do more research in this area to know what to look for.

    So much to learn!
