From just the reverse, do you think these are the same coin?

Different lighting makes it hard to tell, but I think I see some scratches on the one on the left that aren't on the other one. image

This is the coin I won yesterday on Ebay. It arrived today, it was mailed from Niagara Falls, NY.

I think the seller did the old switch-a-roonie on my. The reverse of the coin I received is not the reverse of the coin in the auction IMO.

    Here's the auction eBay

It's very hard to tell with the photos but I think they might be the same. Looking at the rev. both coins seem to have a
problem near the rim at 4 o' clock and the the wear on the maple leafs looks the same.

I have to go along with BS. the small white spot by the upper leg of the E in ONE, the white spot in the maple leaf at 4 oclock, the marks below the T in cent and the maple leafs are the same. The poor pictures don't help, but they look close enough to be the same.

I think they are the same. The mottled spots between VICTORIA and DEI and GRATIA appear the same. Also the crud in the legends appears greenish in the seller's scan, but appears to match placement with the black in your photo. Also, the rim issue noted by Brett does seem the same.

I don't think so, there appears to be more wear on the obverse of the one in the eBay picture.

They are very similar, but I'm going to agree with Aethelred and the others and going by the pictures only, that I think they are not the same.
It is hard to tell and the ebay pictures are blurry, but the one in ebay looks more worn.
I've highlighted the areas where I believe there seems to be extra wear:

    Edited to add:
Going of the toning they could be the same and the blurred picture could account for the "wear" I'm seeing.
If I had to take a guess, I'd say the picture on the right is the coin you perhaps purchased on ebay and the picture on the left is your pictures of it?

  • I suspect that they are the same coin, just photographed under different lighting and at a different angle........

They may actually be the same... note the letters on the Ebay picture are much squatter and wider than in your picture... this may account for the 9 appearing wide.

The 9 determines whether it is a $2 coin or a $40 coin.
