Now, there is some talk here that Tiger Woods did the wrong thing by playing in the U.S. Open. Are you kidding me? I have always maintained that there is no substitute for winning NOW. As Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said, "nothing is worth more than this day." Tiger Woods could get hit by lightning or struck by a car.
It always bothers me when I hear the phrase "we don't want to mortgage our future" by trading young player X. How do you know that you even have a future? So many things could happen. And while there are no guarantees in life (well, except Tiger Woods telling his doctor that he would win the U.S. Open), I suspect there are more than a few of us that would gladly "mortgage" our teams' future for one championship now.
