Ebay's Live Auctions snipeable?

I just signed up for the first time for one of ebay's 'live auctions' which seem to be just like regular auctions except they have a very short life and you get to pay an extra buyer's premium. The instructions say you can place an absentee bid up to two hours before, or place live bids. Does anyone know if I can use esnipe to place my bid? I somehow don't trust the absentee bid feature.

I just bid on my first live auction the other day and was very disappointed. The eBay page doesn't reflect the current price that has come in from either sites or the live auction floor. So while I was the only bidder on eBay, I lost the auction by a huge amount. I would've bid way higher but I couldn't see other bids so thought I was on top.

I think they need to update the auction when a bid is made on any site or location if they are in fact, "live."

OK, so my auction came and I decided to put an absentee bid on it. I won, yay me, but here are the bid listings from ebay:

    piledriver1 US $325.00 Jun-21-08 14:20:43 PDT

    piledriver1 US $290.00 Jun-21-08 14:20:18 PDT

    LiveAuctionFloorBidder US $280.00 Jun-21-08 14:20:16 PDT

    piledriver1 US $270.00 Jun-21-08 14:20:15 PDT

    LiveAuctionFloorBidder US $260.00 Jun-21-08 14:20:12 PDT

    e***v US $160.00* Jun-14-08 04:51:28 PDT

    LiveAuctionFloorBidder US $150.00 Jun-21-08 14:20:07 PDT

    Starting Price US $150.00 Jun-21-08 14:00:00 PDT

It seems to me that my own bid was entered against myself at $300 and $325. Should I not have won it at $290? If anyone has any experience with this sort of auction, I'd love to read any ideas as to why my bid was bumped up even though the last apparent competition stopped at $280. I am thinking there was some other consideration, but I also think ebay's software might've hosed me.

I bid on a heritage auction once, it was a live ebay auction. I wanted an ernie nevers handwritten signed letter. I think I bid about $75 or so early and then a pretty high bid later. I was kind of happy to find that my winning bid was several hundred less than my snipe. The next highest bid to my winning bid was a floor bidder.

That had nothing to do with your post except that I expected to lose or at the very least win at my highest bid and that didn't happen.
