check for centering and any specs of white. That should keep the 8s out.

<< <i>My best advice would be to go over the cards several more times until you get anything that doesn't look like a solid 9 or better out, and then send in a small batch of 20-50 cards and see how it goes before sending too many at once and getting hammered. >>
....and then intentionally slide in 10 or 12 slightly off grade cards, around 8's and 9oc's, this will give the grader fodder and make those possible 9 and 10's look like it.

Ahhhhhhh, the old sacrifice the credit card in the quest for bumping the borderline cards trick. Would you believe I missed it by that much?
Been there, done that. And a host of other scenarios to find the best way to max out an invoice. I've finally settled on what works best... And it does!
what is your secret?
Thanks,

Make sure that everything is everything and resubmit the ones that you are sure where and still are everything. A good eye helps, too.
Seriously, not culling and reviewing again a day or two later and hoping that the grader misses something are the two biggest mistakes submitters make. Look at the cards as if you were a buyer. Would you buy this card as the grade you expect? Or could you point out an additional flaw to the seller to get the price down. If you would pay the price, then odds are, you're being objective. If you are crossing your fingers and expecting a gift, then expect to get unexpected grades!
Anything else is pretty much a gimmick or a superstition, although there are cases where I will still submit certain condition cards in a specific order to lead to the eventual "benefit of the doubt" on a certain 'tweener card in the sequence. It seems to work, but the end result is not a gift . . . just the higher end of the toss-up grade.
Here's the dilemma ... I am collecting this set in PSA 9. But it seems the condition varies from card to card. Some appear absolutely perfect. Other 9's have solid corners but ragged edges. Others, still, have slight corner touches. Go fish.
I have pulled many 9s and some 10s from past submissions, but I'm real hesitant about dropping good money for the 8s that are worth virtually nothing.
