Fishy seller? or Legit any opinions?

While browsing card I noticed a seller with low feedback mostly .99 stuff or less but has a bunch of higher dollar stuff I'm interested in but something just seems fishy. He has left feedback for alot of high end stuff just has not recieved any.. would you risk it or just keep moving? here's a link to his current stuff..

  • I would defintly stay back. Paypal protection is only 200 dollars, he also has a couple of high end cards listed more than once. Too many red flags for me.

Not to mention he starts some of his items at 10.00.. For some reason that just bothers the heck out of me. I do the same when I see auction items start at 1.00 and 25.00

Both of the 1948 Bowman Mikan cards ($700, $500) are the rare version that says Reprint at the bottom of the back. Both are easily a $4,000 card with this rare variation.

PS. he ships the cards in "glass holders"........... so be careful not to shake the box image

Yeah, I noticed he has 2 george mikan rc's up for sale right now.

I sent him a meesage about his wilt chamberlain rc asking why he has it back up for sale and he said "He had 2 and some guy bought both but is no longer a registered user so he's relisting" And that his Grandpa owned a card shop and passed away so he's selling everything..

I asked for a scan of the wilt rc and asked that he scan it with a dark back ground so I could see the centering and corners and he said "No scanner right now will have to wait till tommorow night" so this one is really bugging me..Looks like he's got a few people so far any more more to come by the looks of things.

    Too spooky for me.

    The pics are not comforting.

BUT, he is likely subject to the 21-day hold at PayPal.

If the buyer uses a credit card, the buyer is "safe" anyway.

  • That 21 day hold can be gotten around by a scammer. All they have to do is send something to the buyer or just to that zip code with DC once the item shows delivered the money is released.

I sent him a question about the Aaron rookie.

PayPal claims they are wise to that.

The release usually happens at least 3-days AFTER the DC/SC is submitted by the seller.
Some sellers have claimed it took 10-days for the release.

Obviously still some risk for the buyer, though.

Safest bet is to buy from folks you already know. Or, I guess, use a credit card.

  • I sent him another question asking him about the Mikan saying reprint.
  • I asked a earlier question, never mind on a response I see you are trying to sell reprints as originals.

This is the response I received to the above question:

m sorry what are you talking about. If something i have on here is a reprint and i dont know it tell me and ill take it off, I dont want to sell something thats not right. So please tell me what card or cards I have mislisted so I can remove them.

  • Both Mikan cards have been removed.
  • Looks like someon figured out he was caught
