Local coin shop burglary

ajaanajaan Posts: 17,460 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just found out yesterday that a local coin shop was burglarized. I know the owner and have done some business with him. The thieves broke into his shop through the roof on May 27-28. Here is a list of the items taken and the contact information.

I wonder if the thief will try to spend the $500.00 bill.

The easiest thing to sell on that list is the .357 magnum.
  • Sorry to here that. I'm from the currency side if he has a list of serials you should post it there. We'll keep an eye out for 'em.

Too bad there is no way to notify all coin shops in a quick manner. Postings like this with the hope that other dealers will read this is about the only shot in the dark. An ad in a coin periodical will catch the attention of more people but the time passed between the date of the crime and publication/mailing date is not ideal. It's not unusual for the scumbags to drive hundreds of miles just to dump the coins as happened last spring when coins stolen in Ohio were dumped in Florida. Anyway, they were busted in Florida.

    That's a big shame. image

I can only hope the thieves are stupid. One of the guys at a local shop here in the Boulder area told me a great story several years back. He was robbed of his coin collection at home, but the thief was dumb enough to come to the shop to try and pawn the merchandise. The guy who had been robbed was on duty at the time! image

Hey tell him Im sorry to hear that.

I work for the Army as a criminal investigator. I know they can list the gun in the NCIC computer but He might want to ask the local police if they can list the bills since they are collector's items. Then if they turn up anywhere else they can be tracked by anyone.
