First off Krause is not a good guide for Canada, and secondly less than 1% of my sales are in darkside, Plus I have had many giveaways for the info I've gotten here. If I offend you don't click on my threads Edited to add for years a few inquires, doesn't equal buying new books each year
Did I say anything about Krause? It is hardly the only world coin book in existence. You mooch off the good will of others for info, then when someone is kind kind enough to try to help, you basically say "no, that's old info, I mooch only for current info. If you want to help me, then you damn-well better have a new book." Like I said, buy your own book(s). -Preussen

If I offend Jon I'm sorry The problem is my book to is when Gold was low that why I asked for current If you couldn't see that I guess i worded it wrong.
Smittys: It seems that your main contribution to the forum is to ask what something is and/or what it is worth. As a dealer you might learn something by first trying a little research. On this gold piece, you could have searched ebay current and completed auctions, Heritage Auction Archives and CoinArchives.com. Then if all else fails, buy some research books and then there is always a Google search. Most of the posters to this forum are just collectors with sometimes limited resourses. Just my two cents.3Mark
mark, I do some research, but I've found just dabbling in the darkside, people here know so much more than me thats why i do the giveaways. To buy all the books I need would no be sensible, but to ask here with and have all the knowledge here just seems right. Again thats why I do the giveaways as a thanks to all that help me. I'm a darkside dumbie.
To buy all the books I need would no be sensible I disagree with this statement. I am building up a large library of both Darkside and US books plus magazines so that when I buy I know what I am buying and a good idea of value. When I start trading full time later this year I will have sufficient knowledge to back my judgements.
The current issue of TRENDS in the Canadian Coin News gives the following prices in cdn$ VF20 265, EF40 275, AU50 325, MS60 400, MS62 700, MS63 1100, MS64 1500.

Again to spend hundreds of dollars on new books to learn values on a few coins is not feasible, but that my opinion If I started dealing more in Darkside it would make sense but with the few coins i handle it doesn't seem necessary IMHO
<< <i>Again to spend hundreds of dollars on new books to learn values on a few coins is not feasible >>
I'd agree that spending hundreds of dollars for references that you might only need once for some esoteric item would not be practical. Canada isn't exactly out of the mainstream though, so you might want to consider one of these...
Charlton will be money well spent. Some coin dealers I know get so much Canadian stuff the have a bank account up there so the don't have to loose money on exchange fees

We can quote you Krause, Charlton, etc. but it will probably be below Bullion.
The best resource for 'Market Price' would be a lookup of a similar dated piece on eBay or Heritage...
