A 1937 Netherlands 1 cent coin

I have had this coin for a long time not knowing if it was a counterfeit or not. Its a 1937 Netherlands 1 cent coin although it is made out of a paper product, like cardboard. I can't add photos to this at the moment unfortunately but the coin has the same designs as the metal 1 cent. hopefully i will be able to get a picture up here in a short while. Can anyone tell me for sure if this is a fake, token, or real. Thank you

It certainly looks like a Netherlands cent, but they never issued official 1¢ coins in cardboard, or anything other than bronze. Agree that it's probably play money.

Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD.
While perhaps not official there was experimentation with other materials
in Europe about this time and in this country a few years later.
I suppose it's probably nothing but I sure wouldn't be disposing of it anytime
soon.

Paper coins (from church texts) were issued during the siege of Leyden in 1574. Maybe that is what you are remembering?
