707

I'm sorry, we've covered this a thousand times, but the prices that 707 Sportscards asks are a joke.

If you do a search on the exact card you crave, then scroll down to the most overpriced card in the entire list, there you will find 707 Sportscards wonderful offer to sell you a PSA 6 version of it for 25% more than the sweet PSA 7 right above it.

Yes, he has a huge selection and he has every right to price them however he wants. But it's like going to Walmart and paying $200 for a coffeemaker just because you need one right now.

Actually, I think it's more like going to Walmart and seeing a $200 coffeemaker and wondering why it's twice as much as the one next to it that is now in my shopping card.

High-prices work on EBAY; it just takes a little longer to find that special buyer.

And, that class of buyer tends not to be from whineville. Complaint-free commerce
with folks who value service more than savings.

Not to be harsh but just go back and read old 707 theads and it will discuss everything you want to see posted yet again.

why are you so passionate about it then? you actually processed it in your brain and said "i know there have been 1000 threads about 707, but darnit, I'm so irritated about it that I feel the need to start the 1001st thread."

why did i even open this thread?.. i want my minute back.. my keyboard is pissed at me for even responding.

They may be a joke to you, but go in and take a look at his total sales on ebay for any given week or month.

Excellent selection, not so excellent prices.

I was looking for a mid grade Richie Ashburn 1954 Red Heart and first looked at 707. PSA 6 at his website $250. I won a PSA 6 last night for $70.

Great place to go if you need that one last card to finish off your collection or need something now for a gift.

I guess some of you haven't seen BMW's prices, then... There's nothing wrong with asking the world for something if a.) you'll eventually get close to the asking price and/or b.) you've got the resources to carry your inventory. Levi and Brian have both had great success with their business models and have endured the repeated attacks and complaints by those that think they're out of their collective gourds...
  • My only question is, who pays $200 for a coffeemaker? Got mine at Walmart for $18 and it is programmable.
  • mostly overpriced (and sometimes overgraded) stuff.

I'm not wealthy by any means, but I'm one who values service more than savings. Levi at 707 provides some of the best service I've ever received from a card seller. To the specific point of his cards being overpriced...so what? If I can afford to buy something, I buy it. If I can't, I don't dwell on that which I can't have. A less expensive card always comes along eventually.

As a recovering Registrolic, I completely understand the compelling and mystical urge to buy a card "right now", and that usually means you're gonna pay more than you otherwise have to.

Well, some people like to shop on Beverly Hills Boulevard, right?
  • In addition to the buyers that come across the auctions and buy, you also have the fact of numerous adertisements for 707 in offline publications as well as online, and that equals buyers going directly to 707 and buying, possibly circumventing any other auction available. Business is business.

  • Overgraded?

Is that Levi's fault or those MOMO's at PSA?

    an absolutely ridiculous post.

  • Well if you want to get the best you usually have to pay for it. Levi's prices are what they are because he can get those prices for his stuff. He does not care if he has to sit on a card for a long time before it sells.

If you go to Walmart today, tomorrow, or next week, you'll continue to see those $200 and $18 coffee makers on the shelves. Just because you see them on the shelf doesn't mean they didn't sell any since the last time you looked. Even if they didn't sell any it doesn't matter because Walmart has a store full of 10,000 other items. Their business isn’t a failure if they don't sell a coffee maker to everyone who walks through the door. They don't need to drop the price of $18 coffee makers to $2 because somebody wants to pay $2 for a coffee maker. Some non-cofffe people won’t buy a coffee maker even if you priced it at $1, but they’ll gladly pay full price for a teapot.

Walmart’s business model isn’t to sell the entire contents of their store every day at whatever price it takes to sell, completely restock it overnight, and then dump it all again the next day. If you want that then you just need to be bidding in those 99 cent to start auctions and you might just get that coffee maker for $1. Just watch out for that $17 shipping charge you forgot to read before bidding.

I have done business with Levi for some time. When I order cards he ships them to me for inspection before I pay him. I have never had anorther dealer do that, no matter how much business I have done with them

Levi's prices may be high compared to some but he also buys at high prices as well,I recently sold him
11 1933 Goudeys,He asked me how much I wanted for them all and I told him the amount I would be happy
with and he agreed with no hassling.

Exactly. Levi pays strong prices and has high prices. He's also
one of the most honest dealers I've ever done business with.
Great guy in my opinion and he's always happy to share his vast card knowledge. Most dealers kept all that inside info private. Levi's one of the few sellers who's willing to actually talk cards even if you don't buy from him.
