Question

About two weeks ago I sent in some 1967 Topps PSA 8 commons to PSA for possible bump. I just got them back in the mail today, no bumps.

I noticed that the cards are still in the old holder and not the new holder (grade # down instead of being next to NM-MT).

Aren't they suppose to re-holder the cards?

  • Only if they get a bump do they get reholdered unless you paid for reholder service.

They likely opened a couple to examine closer and decided no bump, therefore new labels/cases on some.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

OH......I thought they get taken out anyway, examined and re-holdered.

How long did it take for your bump submission to be processed?

As I understand it, even if they crack the cards for "closer inspection," if they are not bumped, they will use the same flip (label). The flip will only change if the grades get bumped and PSA will make the adjustment to the Pop Report and to your Registry inventory. If you have the cards in a Registry, you'll need only "commit" the set again for the new grades to be posted to your set(s).
