There IS such a thing as a Stupid Question!

Okay...I'll risk my reputation as a PSA card collector by asking this question...

I am crossing the border (USA to Canada) with some PSA graded cards. Should I put them in my luggage or my carry-on bag? Can they get damaged in any way by going through the X-ray machine?

Thanks!

    I am no expert....but I don't think xrays will harm a card.
However, I did read something in the past. Customs may want to know what you are going to do with those cards. If they are for sale you may have to declare value....and be prepared to pay a fee on your return.
I know many people from canada have requested that when you send them a card say it is a gift.

someone here on the boards will know the answer

Depending on value...I would most certainly bring them carry on. If you have them is regular luggage (are you flying) insurance and other considerations need to be considered. They can't get lost if you have them on you.

Just tuck them under the 2 kilo bags of coke like I do. They'll never spot 'em.

Long term exposure could give the cards cancer.

No, xrays will not damage your cards or your psa cases. I do not know exactly what the plastic is made of so they may or may not even show up on the xrays but I would think that they are dense enough so that there will be some sort of image.

What will show up are the holograms on the back of flips and any card that has any metallic trim...such as Ultra. Bowman Chrome and Finest show up nicely.

Just hope that the pattern of the the stack doesnt appear to be a bomb and they toss you in the clinker until they sort the cards out and choose what they want to confescate. image
