It's fairly common in this situation to send an established MLB pitcher down to A ball just to get his mechanics and rythym back, and not interfere with taking pitching game time away from AAA pitching prospects trying to work their way up to the bigs.

I agree, I've seen it with rehab stints for injuries, so I guess it will be the same as they will be more interested in his mechanics.
  • The Florida State League (A Adv.) is on it's all star break right now, but I'll try and get to one of his games if it's within a few hour drive.

If you watched his last game on ESPN Orel was very critical of his mechanics. It seems odd to me that 1: If his mechanics were that obviously wrong why can't he fix them? 2: Why would they let him start if he is that screwed up mechanically? The Tigers just gave that game away. Might as well of forfeited.

Too bad too cuz Dontrelle was on his way to a HOF type career and 250 + wins.

Hopefully he puts it back together, he should be in the NL anyway, ever see this kid hit?

Yeah he should be in the NL, he's one of the best hitting pitchers in the game right now.
