So, I just got my first negative in eBay...

I've been buying and selling on eBay since early 1999. Not a huge user, but I had over 500 positives without a negative or a neutral. I recently sold a 1968 PSA 8 (ST) card (common) for UNDER $3.00. I listed the card as (OC), because I use four pictures and recycle the form. I just forgot to switch the Qualifier from a previous card.
So the buyer e-mails me and says it was the wrong qualifier. I say no problem, ship it back, and I'll even pay for return shipping. She says just give her free shipping on her next purchase, and I say no problem. I log on to eBay tonight, and lo and behold, she still gave me a negative. There were other e-mails from her saying she didn't want to ruin my perfect feedback, blah, blah blah.
So, should I be tarred and feathered, or is she just a Hexe? I do have to give her one thing, she listed "Buyer beware" in the feedback, and I guess I was trying to get the extra high $$$$ by listing the OC qualifier instead of the ST, The OCs sell for SO much more.

Tough break EP!
Robert
I will remain idle with my 100 % feedback (only 210 transactions) ... and it will stay that way until ebay changes back to giving the small / honest seller some respect.
I'll not be screwed by some .99 cent transaction.
cheers

I find it NOT funny.
ONE deterent to SCUM is to NOT sell cheap items.
If you have a bunch of cheap cards, they can be made into $20+ lots.
"LOTS" is also a rewarded word in Best-Match.
MOST problems now come from items under $10.00.
<< <i>If you have a bunch of cheap cards, they can be made into $20+ lots.

That is actually very good to know. Does "free shipping" actually attract buyers from what you've seen, storm?
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Maybe not.
It does give you 11+ points in the screwball algo that determines Best-Match.
"Free S&H" does not seem to have much effect on DSRs. Your scores will be
about the same with "reasonable" S&H. (That is likley because EBAY tells
buyers that "4-stars means an excellent transaction.")
Smart sellers are raising their S&H. They can make LOTS more money on HIGH
S&H than they can on the measly DSR FVF discounts.
Unfortunately, this is just going to be part of the game from now on. I would recommend just ignoring all your feedback, ratings, and all that crap. Building up feedback in more than one account is also a good idea. Gives the losers of the world less power over you, and if you buy and sell on ebay it's not hard to do.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Yup.
I you have posting/buying IDs, get them over 100 as fast as you can.
Accounts under 100 will be hit with PayPal holds.
If your main ID gets hurt too badly, you can switch to a backup at 100%.
Most purchased items are only easily searchable for 90-days. You can buy
penny/dollar items, and in a few months no one will know what you bought;
buyers will only see the 100%.
I decided not to ruin your feedback over a small purchase so just offer me free shipping if I bid on any of your items, thanks...
The reason I left you negative feedback was that the card is actually ST not OC and I never would have bought the card if I knew it was ST.
I am not going to send the card back because it will cost me almost 3 dollars in shipping not to mention the time I have to waste.
If you refund my money I will cancel the negative so you can get your 100% rating back.
I do not know if you did this on purpose or made a honest mistake but either way I just wasted my time and money buying this card.
Sorry but Ebay changed their feedback policy so I will not be able to remove it after all.
Please do not refund my money because I am keeping the card.
You got the negative because you sent me a card that was ST not OC and misrepresented the ad.
Sorry to have to give you the negative but I did have a negative expierience with you so you did deserve the negative.
I like people- that's from me, actually.

Bill Brush feels as if he's been banished from one of the world's largest online networks -- eBay -- because of an ongoing dispute with PayPal.
"It's very frustrating," said Brush. I'm just an account number that owes them money. And they've made the decision, and that decision is unbendable. So I'm stuck."
Late last year, Brush, a computer security professional in Tacoma, sold one of his many personal laptops on eBay.
The buyer, from New Zealand, swooped in at the last moment and bought the Thinkpad T-60 for more than $800.
So Brush packed it up, headed to his local post office, and sent it off.
"When I came home, there was an e-mail waiting for me from PayPal saying that the transaction had been frozen and they recommended that I didn't ship the laptop," said Brush.
Brush rushed back to the post office and got his computer. He waited while PayPal investigated the New Zealand buyer.
Ten days later, PayPal told Brush the buyer was cleared and the transaction was good to go, so he mailed the laptop again and assumed all was fine until a month later PayPal e-mailed him to say that the buyer had filed a claim against Brush, claiming the laptop had never arrived.
"PayPal had basically frozen my account, put it into a limited-access mode, and basically told me that I needed to send some proof that I had shipped this laptop and that I had done my part," said Brush.
So Brush sent a copy of the U.S. Postal Service receipt to the investigators at PayPal showing that the computer had been delivered in New Zealand.
"I figured the case was pretty much closed at that point. I thought I had done everything I needed to do," Brush told KIRO 7 Consumer Investigator Amy Clancy.
"Because you had confirmation from the U.S. Postal Service that this laptop had been delivered?" asked Clancy.
"Correct," Brush said.
But it apparently wasn't enough because, a month later, even though the buyer had been investigated before, Brush was notified that PayPal had sided with that buyer in New Zealand.
Brush was ordered to refund the buyer's more than $800, something he refused to do, because he feels the receipt is proof he held up his end of the bargain.
"I sent some e-mails off to PayPal. They were basically not replied to. I sent a couple of follow-ups. They were not replied to. And then eventually, they sent me to collections," said Brush. "There's going to be a certain hit to my credit account and my credit score over a relatively low sum of money."
Brush says his frustration is now compounded because no one at PayPal will even hear his side of the story.
"My phone calls get funneled directly into the collection agency, and it's impossible for me to talk to PayPal right now," said Brush.
But when KIRO 7 Consumer Investigators contacted PayPal, our calls and e-mails were returned immediately.
A spokeswoman says she's "very sorry that Mr. Brush had a frustrating experience," that the mistake was "human error," and that customer calls and e-mails are typically returned within 24 hours.
It was not what Brush experienced.
"There was no means of communication with them at all," said Brush.
And Brush isn't alone.
Between 2000 and 2006, the Washington State Attorney General's office received 126 complaints about PayPal.
The AG's office took action, forcing PayPal to more clearly disclose all terms and obligations.
Entire Web sites, some with names that can't be shown on television, bash PayPal for how it treats its customers, and a California judge has ruled that upset consumers shouldn't fight PayPal in blogs online, but should sue in court.
But since Brush contacted KIRO 7, his PayPal account has been restored and he no longer owes any money to collections.
Still, he's soured on the entire experience.
"I tried to do everything that I could to be an honest seller and to do what I was supposed to do -- and then to be cheated like that? It really turns you off to the entire Internet buying and selling process," said Brush.
Brush says he'll sell online again, but won't use eBay or PayPal, and will most likely only deal with local buyers.
Meanwhile, the PayPal spokeswoman told Clancy that with nearly 150 million customers, some are bound to be unhappy.
Still, when Clancy asked, "With thousands of customer service representatives, why, not one of them could return Brush's e-mail or phone calls?" She did not have an answer.
PayPal stands by its dispute resolution practices and says the best way to ensure you're protected is with signature confirmation upon delivery.

"This OP took out a line of credit offered to her mother by PayPal. Now she is upset because PayPal wants their money back, and they are going after her mother.
She is a crook, plain and simple. Sells counterfeit sports cards, steals from her mother, and has at least one eBay suspended account, and just keeps creating more."

OK.
If ElectricPrune is a PSer - or has a friend at EBAY - T&S might see
their way to removing the NEG based on tabby being a scumster/scamster.
Tab could be a competitor just bringing havoc to anybody who sells in
her/his category.
The mother may have a unique account, or this one may be tab's momma's.
Tab needs to be NARUd. Might be a teenager; boy/girl usinf ma's account.
Once his/her seller account is found, won't see them around much longer.
Looks like prior to April 11, 2008, Tab was using another
account to sell counterfeit cards, etc.
She got NARUd. She opened this new account.
That may be enough of a TOS violation to have her NARUd.
Once she is NARU, the NEG she left prune will be removed.
Good work - as usual - PA.
Now, find Tab's original account(s).

Neither, unfortunately. The more you guys have looked into it, it looks like something bad is going on on her end.

Pitch to T&S:
The subject buyer was recently NARUd under a different ID, and fraudulently opened the current
account in order to circumvent EBAY's TOS.
The subject buyer has had "problems" at both EBAY and PayPal. She is a menace to safe
commerce on EBAY.
The subject buyer should be NARUd, and any NEGs she has left should be removed.
Thank you.

I agree. And I think I even put in the listing that I couldn't even verify where the stain was. Although, that could have been another card.
Is it true that you can no longer remove a negative once it has been left?
If i was you I would not worry.
The new Ebay will have sellers with negs.
Steve
<< <i>It looks like she's either changed her name or opened another user name, imjustagirlteehee >>
What an idiot - I hope she trys to sell at some point.
<< <i>As long as her feedback remains private she won't be able to sell on Ebay. >>
Of all the privacy measures that ebay has put in place, I find the private feedback option to be the worst. If I get a bidder with private feedback, I immediately cancel their bids and block them. I would rather alienate myself from a buyer than deal with someone who has something to hide.
//////////////////////////////////
As I noted, your first step is to pitch T&S that a NARUd person
has circumvented EBAY's TOS. The voice of experience is speaking
to you.

If this pitch is rejected, move up the ladder to a supervisor at T&S. Once, she is NARU,
ALL of her NEGs will be removed.
