Yesterdays Flea Market pickups

Total cards from yesterdays visit was 42, mostly '72 Topps baseball for mixed raw/PSA set. Total NRMT BV is around $320. Only paid $50 and he gave me a 1980 Topps Dale Murphy. He always gives me a free Murphy or Ripken when I visit. Here are some of the highlights:

Got about 20 high number '72s in similar condition. Most are in the PSA 7 range but a few should get higher with maybe a 9 in there.

Only paid $10 for the 2 Tarkenton's and the Taylor(LSU Alum). The Largent and the '57s were in the $1 box. Offered him $2k for a 50 page binder with VG-EX condition stars and HOF'ers from 1954-1978. He told me to come back next week and we would talk about it. Has a few Mays, Sniders and one beat up (VG at best) '59 Mantle in it.

Nice pickups- Most of the stuff appears to be in the NM-MT range. I wish I had the patience to trudge through unorganized boxes of cards, but 50 cards in my ADD kicks in and I have to go do something else. Also, I hate getting that kink in my neck from looking down at cards for too long.

  • This guy has chairs and a table for you to sit down and browse. He buys a lot of collections so the $1-2 box is always fun to look through about once every two months or so. Think I have posted some of my finds that were eventually submitted like a 1963 Mantle he sold me for $100 and is now sitting in a PSA 7 holder in some anonymous ebay members collection.

Nice finds. Over the weekend, I visited the same flea market I frequented back in the late 80's - early 90's. At its ballcard peak, there were 4 booths that were all cards and at least another 4 that dabbled in cards. Today, there are exactly zero. I thought for sure there would be at least one booth where a guy could pick up some over-priced, searched packs, but no.
  • There is a large booth at the same flea market with nothing but baseball memorabilia. The guy has about 100 items "signed" by Mickey Mantle. Might actually trust the guy if it weren't for his $300 asking price for an O/C 85 Topps Mcgwire.

nice pickups we don't have that kind of flea market buys around here. a couple of weeks ago a guy had binders of 60-70's football in vg-ex condition (all commons) for about 40-50 buck each about 200 cards in all, not good here for flea market finds
