Great team, great win!
Gives Detroit sports fans something to feel good about, the Tigers are a bust this season, the Pistons were a playoff disappointment
and the Lions..... well what can you say but that they are the Lions.
Congrats to the Wings.

I went in to the series enjoying the Pens run, but by game four I was ready for the Wings to nail them to the wall-- a change of heart that was largely inspired by that idiot Bob Cole's ceaseless pimping for Pittsburgh.
The United States is not a perfect country, but one thing we don't do on this side of the border is choose which team to root for based on the nationality of the participants. If the average American sports fan is watching the World Series, and has no vested interest in either team, he will not pick team 'A' over team 'B' simply because team 'A's biggest star is American, and team 'B's biggest star is from the Dominican. I usually like to think of Canadians as being more open minded than ourselves, but that's a viewpoint which this recent Canadian drool-fest over Crosby/Roberts/Fleury has forced me to reconsider.

I see your point, but Canadians are very passionate about the game, and there is a lot of Don Cherry nationalism that a lot of people buy into up there. It doesn't bother me a bit. If you've watched the game since 1972, then you understand that there is a lot of nationalism in this sport between Russia and Canada. This sport was built on nationalistic pride more then football, baseball, or basketball.
The 1972 series vs. the Russians and the 1987 Canada Cup were two of the biggest events ever in the history of Canadian sports.
They feel it's their game, and that no one should be better then them.
Geez, Gretzky looked half dead when Canada got whipped in the last Olympics. Hockey is truly in their blood, and they take
it very seriously. I could care less, because hockey is not that big a deal for me.
LOOKING FOR A REPEAT !!!
GO WINGS!!

Boo, I think I'm starting to understand what you're talking about. I was a little confused by this at first because I for one don't care where anyone comes from. I know Don Cherry... he's just an entertainer.
I personally like Crosby more than any other player at this time mostly because of how bad I didn't like him when he entered the league. I thought he was the most over rated kid since Lindros, even after the world Juniors. He proved me wrong and I'm now a fan. He might as well be Superman to me, lol.
To be honest, there is one player that I get that homeboy feeling from, that's Osgood. My farm's only 40 minutes away from his hometown. But I've set that aside at this point, and I just hate him like all the other red Wings.
<< <i>Where's your farm, Trent? >>
Near Hines Creek Alberta, I'm sure you've heard of it, lol. Population 500.
I spend most of my time just north of Winnipeg right now. The White Out at Melon Arena reminds me of the ol Jets days.
