Anyone remember that Lite Beer commercial when Marv Throneberry said something along the lines of "I used to get 25 Marv Throneberry baseball cards before I got one Carl Furillo?"

How can you even bring up sports commercials and not mention Mean Joe Greene.

    "Hey Kid....catch!"

Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

That would indeed classify as sports cards and memorabilia. Good call.

Exactly...people act as if this forum is life or death. If you dont like the topic, do not read it.

Coming from the guy who started such gripping threads as this one and this one, you really should not be talking. While they may be on topic, they are just as stupid (if not moreso) as the sitcom threads.

"OMG, I just pulled 4 Williams out of the same pack! I need to start a thread on CU right away to share this amazing story!!!"
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
Actually, when you click on the "Message Boards" link from the main page this forum is listed as the "Community Message Board" so if someone posts something for the community it should be considered appropriate.
  • Lee,

While my threads may not be gripping, at least they have to do with Sports Cards & Memorabilia....

I just don't like having to scroll through endless inane threads to find the ones I come here to read (i.e. ones about sports cards).....there is a Sports Talk Forum for all these other types of threads.....it's no different than when people get yelled at for not posting Buy/Sell threads in the B/S/T Forum....

YOU DON'T HAVE TO COME HERE.

And for martyogelvie, you have loads of room to talk with your tinyurl links.

My favorite beer commercials are the old Miller Lite ads with Bob Uecker in them. The one with Ueck and Joe Piscopo was terrific.

Don't even get me started on Mr. Belvidere. A sitcom with a former athlete as a main character could be a 200 post thread!
  • 21-34-55-89-144-233 ....... which are the next numbers after "11235813" in the fibonacci sequence

They talked about the fibonacci sequence in the first part/scene of the Da Vinchi Code movie

Tom Hanks was in the Da Vinchi Code

Tom Hanks was also in 'A league of their own'

Tom Hanks character was inducted into the hall of fame and seen at the end of the movie.

Lots of great baseball players are in the hall of fame.

All/most of these great players have baseball cards.

Some of these great players are part of the 1969 nabisco set. I am right now waiting for my 1969 nabisco card related wins to arrive in the mail from Memory Lane and Andy Madec. I will be posting them when I get them into the applicable message thread.

Willie Mays has a card in this 1969 set.

Willie Mays once was on "Mr. Belvedere"

I don't even bother scrolling anymore. If I have to actually go through the whole rigamaroll of moving my cursor over to the scroll bar and clicking and dragging downward, etc., etc... I mean, what thread could possibly be worth the physical and mental hassle? I did try using the scroll wheel on the mouse once. And I suppose it is a bit easier and all, but... well, it just displeases me.

I like those Yogi Berra commercials with that duck that keeps quacking about something but nobody ever listens to him.

Just stick the word "contest" in the thread title and "everybody" will love it regardless of the topic. LOL

This thread is off topic...... You SOB.

What does this thread have to do with Lee being on "The Flavor of Love"
  • AllenAllen Posts: 7,165 ✭✭✭

This Message Board is the only one that (IMO) is full of guys that think Quantity over Quality as far as writing posts. I only find 10% useful or productive, 90% garbage, and a complete waste of time. Its also obvious there is a larger, far younger teeniebopper crowd here compared to the vintage boards.

But I have leaned a great deal on new shinny mass produced stuff, and the modern card collecting habits, and that alone is very interesting (sometimes bizarre) to me. Keep up the good posts, cut out the fluff and blah blah blah garbage. Who cares if your almost at 5000 posts, no one gives a cr@p!

Ok, thats my waste of time post............. back to Sports Memorabilia

I'm pretty sure it was "Flavor of Love". Lee dropped a duece while wearing an evening gown. I believe Flavor said something along the lines of YEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHH BOOOYYYYYYYY.
  • AllenAllen Posts: 7,165 ✭✭✭
I don't think there are many "teenieboppers" here.

Being at close to 10,000 posts here is important to me, plus at 10,000 posts, I get to choose my own title - it doesn't get any better than that.
  • CDsNutsCDsNuts Posts: 10,092
I keeps it real. These otha hoes be trippin. Flav is my man! He gonna pick me because I'm countrylicious.

  • << <i> plus at 10,000 posts, I get to choose my own title - it doesn't get any better than that. >>

I knew there must be a reason for all of this....everyone is trying to get to 10,000 posts....makes sense...I will have to start posting more....now I understand CDsnuts...

This is also a Good reason to start a new topic....WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR TITLE TO BE WHEN YOU REACH 10,000 POSTS... image

    I only need 9000 more posts...hmmm...
