<< <i>oh,ok thanks so much for your help so is it worth getting a card like this? >>
Depends is it a card you really want but you don't want to spend the money on an unaltered. Just my opionion but I would not want a known altered card in my collection but if that does not bother you I say get it.

+1 not in my collection...would prefer a game used (lol)
If you do opt to buy it, i would guess 10-15% (of a otherwise similar grade or of a 3 in the case of trimmed) depending on how it was altered, again scan would help....
It would not bother me having an altering 33 Ruth or 52 Mantle or the like. I am too cheap to buy a nice one...likely even too cheap to buy an altered as well.....but it wouldn't bother me having such, especially if it is properly labeled.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
What set? There are many sets from 1933 with Ruth in them.
Is it the common R319 (Goudey) or something much rarer (ie. Uncle Jack, R337, Rittenhouse Candy, Blue Bird Grape Soda, Sport Kings, Worch Cigar, World Wide Gum, etc.)

Storm is right that you have to steal it. The Ruth cards on ebay aren't going to be stolen, and at least 2 of the 3 have at least one edge that's too nice.
I don't mind having trimmed cards as long as I know they're trimmed when I buy them, I want them slabbed authentic and they stay slabbed. I think I have 4 trimmed cards.
I think it also enters into the equation that there are so many ruth reprints that have been "aged" that maybe it's not all that bad to have one that psa said was made in 1933.

Recolored, trimmed etc.

Depends on the price.
You MUST steal it.

Just the honest mistake part of it that makes it seem OK.
Nothing honest about trimmed.

Just curious

An honest (ancient) trim job;
and the mark was removed. Not sure if that is what you said.
