NBA Finals Schedule...EVERY game starts at 9pm EST. Ridiculous...

...in my humble opinion.

WTF??

Why not start at 8pm?

That sucks. Kids are still in school -- but the networks don't give a crap -- they have to barrage us with the endless string of Viagra, Cialis, and the other boner pill commericials. image

The NBA might be wise to start at least one east ( Boston) game, at 7PM EST. and even be so bold as to try one west ( LA ) game at perhaps 8PM PST.

Using a "different" starting time might attract some new viewers, who potentially are not going to be ready to start watching a game at 9PM on the east coast. Established die-hard NBA fans will probably watch whenever the league wants to play, however it's good business sense to try to garner new or casual fans into the mix.

That seems really stupid. I see they have 2 Sunday games if it makes it to 7 games and they are even 9pm. I live in LA and woud have expected to have at least 3 games that would be early starts . Do keep in mind that 9PM EST for the LA games is actually early for a game in LA. When the games normally start at lets say, 7:15PM (10:15EST), people still show up a half hour late. You would think they could have done it this way: (all times are EST)
    Game 1 June 5 at Boston 8PM
Game 2 June 8 at Boston 7PM (Sunday Game)
    Game 3 June 10 at LA 9PM
    Game 4 June 12 at LA 9PM
Game 5 June 15 at Boston 7pm (Sunday Game)
    Game 6 June 17 at LA 9pm
    Game 7 June 19 at Boston 8pm

Maybe the Network is showing better ratings from the PST area's ??

Don't worry too much Boston fans. If the Lakers take care of business, you shouldn't have to worry about staying up late for 7 games.

I believe it was the NBA wanting to give the Celtics some extra rest so the series will look good. image

If history is any indication the NBA will get better ratings starting at 9 PM rather than 8 PM at this time of year. Why? because when it
is light and warmer outside earlier in the evening people are less inclined to be indoors at 8 PM watching TV in general.

This has been consistant throughout the history of TV no matter what is being shown.

I do not care when they start; I will not watch. Years ago the NBA playoffs were on tape delay; I vote that we go back to that.

The NBA is a much bigger business these days with a lot at stake financially, they will never go back to tape delay on the finals.

Basketball (the NBA) is much bigger than a lot of you think...especially overseas. With the new crop of young talent, the NBA's popularity is only going to go up...don't dog it!
