1972 Type 2 Ike

How does one tell the difference between Type 1, 2 and 3? If I recall correctly, it has something to do with the earth and islands off Florida on the reverse side. Can anyone clarify this for me?

    19lyds has a great set of pics for this...if he doesn't reply to your post, PM him...you can also look at a proof or 40% business strike 1972-S for an example of a type 2. This reverse was used in their production, as well as the rare type 2 1972 philly business strikes...

    Probably the best and simplest explanation for 1972 types was by one of the greats. The website link to these explanations has been posted on these boards numerous times.
