A question for numismatic brainiac types.

I've looked up'n down the internets but can't find a name for this...
In Great Britain it's referred to as L.s.d. (Pounds, Shillings, Pence)
Did Mexico/Spain ever have a name for their pre-decimal system, such as E.r.t.p. (Escudos, Reals, Tlacos, Pilons)?
Or... is it just called pre-decimal?

All thoughts or opinions welcome.

I read an interesting article about this very topic in a book by Miguel Muñoz last night. The book title is "Numismatica Mexicana" or something to that effect. It is a bilingual compilation of papers the author gave over the years and was self-published in the late 1970's.

But he does not mention any "name" that was used other than the standard duodecimal (and sexagesimal, etc.).

    Hummm - it's most perplexing.

I think I'll coin my own acronym and call it PDMC (Pre decimal milled coinage)

Thanks. I figured it was time to post something--I've been lurking for a while now.
And your question was most interesting!

    Cheers.

I've heard it called octal (based on the number 8).
