Is this SGC?

Beckett board thinks this was the old SGC when they first started,
but I thought the old label was SG LLC (sportscard guaranty limited liability company).
I've never seen this before. The flip looks so generic, but the black sleeve, holder,
and gold sticker on the back resembles SGC. However, the holder looks completely
frosted to me. Is this a scammaroo?

Umm, it says S B C in the auction and on the holder - far off from SGC

Yes, SBC was prior to SGC. I had a few of them. They were around early on in the "grading" business. I think SBC became SGC.

Basically the same company, pre SGC.

I remember the slabs well, early 1990s

Joe Merkle created and ran SBC ca.1990-1992. The company then went under. In the late 1990s the NGC coin graders wanted to get into the sportscard grading field, they then hired Merkle because of his past experience with SBC, ...... thus bringing the same style slab and many of the same characteristics of earlier SBC grading to the then new SGC.
