Newb w/ questions on Mexican and Bermuda coins

Hey all...

I just purchased a collection from somebody and I'm pretty new to this hobby so please excuse the questions if they are dumb.

Mexican coins:
Question 1: I have about 25 1977 & 1978 "cien" 100 peso coins...are they worth anything as collectibles, or just silver value?
Question 2: I have a 1968 25 peso coin that has some Olympics stuff on the reverse...is this worth anything? Is it silver as well? It looks to be the same size as the 100 peso coins.

Bermuda coins:
I have 3 Bermuda proof sets...I think years are 1972 & 73... are these worth anything?
There are also about 10 or 15 Bermuda coins from the same time period loose... are any of these collectors? Are they silver?

Thanks all for any help, direction.

  • According to my 2007 Krause:

Question 1: .6429oz ASW each. They book for $6.25-$6.50 in UNC.

Question 2: .5209oz. ASW and book value of $5.50 in UNC.

Question 3: I do not see 1972 or 1973 Bermuda prooff sets listed in my Krause catalog. I do not see the proofs listed individually either for those years.
  • Those catalog values are out of date since the jump in silver prices.
Current Gold and Silver prices: http://www.kitco.com/market/ .
ASW = Actual Silver Weight contained in each coin. Collector value may be more.

  • There is a "Variety" on the 1968 Libertad Olympic 25 peso coin that is a High ring and a Low ring type, I don't have my Krause handy, But As i recall the price difference wasn't much.... for either........Good Luck.....image
