Teletrade question

Dave99BDave99B Posts: 8,747 ✭✭✭✭✭
I recently shipped off some coins to Teletrade, to take advantage of their $150 Seller Fee discount.

I’ve never sold on Teletrade, and thought I would give it a try.

Q: How does Teletrade notify you of the auction(s) your coins will be listed in?

Thx, Dave

I sent in coins last month when the $150 rebate started. I received two letters... one stating the coins were received and the auction they would be in, another stating which auction they would be in and a detailed list of the coins.

Once the coins are listed in an auction, on your personal tracking and bidding page, there is a link to coins called "view any consigned lots you may have in upcoming auctions." Click on that and it will bring up another page which you can click to track the coins you're selling.

    Hope this helps!

I am taking advantage of the May $150 special also.

I received (2) emails. One when they received the coins and one for when they are actually listed. My date is set for June 4

Yes, Ian and Irma are very professional and rather nice. I usually get an email. If you put an address on your consignment form, that should work.

I have had mixed results at TT. It is mainly a matter of what material you have there. One major caution is understand the buy back fees and do your math before setting them. Those can bury you if you are too liberal with them. Learn the rules and start figuring them out while you wait. And....GOOD LUCK!

(Tomorrow's the last day for it and I'll probably drop some off at their table myself.)

They will send you an e-mail with all the pertinent information once they receive your coins.

I just got off the phone with Gil at Teletrade, it took me a few tries to get a hold of him but once I did he answered all my questions. I sent in coins on the 16th and they got there on the 28th. I was worried that I would not get the 150.00 off deal but he said I would as they go by when they received them. He also said they are thinking about extending the deadline by a week but I have not seen that verified on line yet. I hope you used the special consignment form that had the 150.00 off listed on it. One other thing I found out the last time I used them was that I thought they would list my Ike proofs as a set but they listed each one seperately which cost me a lot in minimum fees but that was my fault as I found out you have to tell them if you want them auctioned off as a set.

    Good luck in your auction,

Don't forget that the $150 off applies only to those coins that sell in the first auction they appear in .

If you check that box to have them appear in up to 3 Auctions , and they sell in the 2nd or 3rd one's ....then you won't

be able to deduct any fee's .............. ONLY THE FIRST AUCTION
  • PawPaul is so right. Be careful with your buy back price. I'm taking advantage of the May offer as well. Post your buyback high enough to protect yourself but low enough to spark interest for a sale. Remember that the bidder has to BEAT your buyback to make a sale. You do want the coins to sell the first time around to get the $150 discount.

If you want to get more than one bidder involved, price the buy back a few increments below what you feel the coin is worth. Have faith your coin will draw attention!

    OK, next stupid question:

If I enter a buyback bid on some of my coins (which I understand that I must do at least one hour before the auction begins), does that effectively set the amount of the opening bid when the auction kicks off?

In other words, if I think the coin is worth $1000, and I post a $750 buyback just to cover my ars, does it open up at $750?

I promise, this is the last dumb question.....I think....maybe.

    Thanks,
    Dave

  • the auction has already started when you are allowed to place your buyback bid so you would become the high bidder i think

The buyback bid must be placed a minimum of 1 hour before the auction starts. I am not sure if the opening bid is your buyback bid or not. That is a good question. I will find out next Wed. as I have some coins in that auction.

  • I just sold a coin on teletrade and the opening bid on mine was less then my buy back when the auction started. It still sold for over my buyback and passed my buyback early in the night.
