Counterfeit 1914-D cent, XF++.
Just a follow-up to my post of 8 or 9 months ago.
I bought a Lincoln collection on eBay 1909-1958 w/o the '09-SVDB
and '22 no D. It had the '14-D as XF++.
The guy had 720 feedback, all positive.
Also, all coins were said to be very fine or better. They weren't.
A lot of them were just G4. The photos weren't of any use.
There was a 3 day return policy. Mighty generous!
I put them in the mail the next day after receipt.
I let him know that and received an answer: "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!"
Seems he felt I needed his permission to do so. He refused to accept
delivery of the package and or course, refused to pay.
Most of your responses recommended turning it over to Paypal.
I did so. After 3 months of doing various things like calling the guy and
trying to resolve this mess; getting verification from a dealer that the
coin was indeed a reworked 1944; and a few other nuicances,
I finally received Paypal's ruling in my favor.
They credited my account for $1535 which I transferred immediately.
I could still leave him feedback which I did.
A few hours later, I had my first negative (out of 2500+).
His stand was that I had switched coins.
He knew this without seeing them after his initial shipment!?
Anyway, all's well that ends well.
his feedback left me with 100% since it rounded off to that.
His dropped to 99.9.
A lot of work but it was worth it just to warn others he wasn't perfect!

It is health that is real wealth, not pieces of gold and silver. Gandhi.
I collect all 20th century series except gold including those series that ended there.

Great news, glad to hear your $$$ got back to you !!!!
Perhaps you should have expected the old "switched coins" schtick since that's what most of these bastages like to pull out and use!
IMO, the fellow should be NARU'ed!
