What is this?

I am thinking it is just an odd shaped rock, but its shape could make it sometype of Native American tool. The "handle" does show some rounding and wear like it was being held and there are some scratches on both sides of the stone. Could it have been used to hold hides while cleanig them or something.

It may have been used to put bread in the oven - you just left it there until the bread was done then take the whole thing out.

Think bread stone like a pizza stone - even heating.
