Morgan Dollars - different kind of leafs...
When I examine my Morgan Dollars, I see that some of the dollars have leafs that are incomplete, and others have full leafs. This applies specifically to the two leafs nearest to ON in ONE. See pictures.

Although sometimes very slight, each pair has some sort of variance due to polishing, punching of mintmarks, hubbing, engraving, polishing, gouges, etc as mentioned.
The 1921 coins are easily distinguished from the earlier Morgans, and you can see that with the naked eye. Some features are significantly different than the older coins.
Good luck, it sounds like you are a Vammer and may not even know it yet

1883O - polished leafs (?)
1904O - complete leafs (?)
"Leafs" is not gramatically correct, but at least it cannot be misunderstood
<< <i>Yes, I think so... I'm not a native speaker. I wrote leaves first, but then I became unsure... Felt like I was writing that the Morgans were leaving...

Did you think we'd think that the leaves were leaving?
