Matte Proof Lincoln's for the week of 5-28

WaterSportWaterSport Posts: 6,913 ✭✭✭✭✭
Five more than last week (29). Almost a complete set of MPL’s listed this week but we are missing a 1914. New coins this week include the VDB, another 09 mentioned by Brain plus a CAC stickered 1909 that Bowers and Merena are auctioning. I even discovered out first “Craigs List” MPL a 1910 for $650 which is a darn good price if the coin still exists. Next weeks list should be shorter as the Heritage auction is this week. Good luck to those bidding!

As always, if you know of one that is sold on the list or becomes available, just PM me so I can keep the list as accurate as possible. Till next week.

The funny thing is... I probably never would have wanted a set of Mattes... but with all the talk around here... I am gonna have to build one next year for sure after everything setlles down... Looks like a fun and challenging set.

    What about those Dimes?

Surely some enthusiastic Dime collector could scour the dealers, EBay, etc. and produce an equivalent 1916 D list just for starters. It takes about 1.5 hours to throw the update together. Most of it is verifying the coins are still up for sale while forum member’s notify me of any new found coins or those just sold. I have to say we have had more folks start collecting Mattes than I ever thought would happen. The original goal was just to help the existing MPL collectors find the missing coins. Could be a great tool to start some dime collectors!image And help spread out all of these MPL threads!

NGC pop reports on the 1916 indicate only 2 graded 67RB. Angeldees had one some months ago, which is no longer on the list. Is the auction coin listed and the ex-angeldees coin one in the same?

I seen their coin at Baltimore and it was a frosty red beauty.

The 1916 NGC PR67RB in the Bowers Auction is the same coin as Angeldees. Andy told me it was once in a PCGS holder as RED, just not that high a grade. Still, it is suppose to be an exceptional coin.

Yes it is nice. And, it looked RD to me for sure. Personally, Id take the PCGS & RD holder instead of the NCG & RB, and gladly trade down a number in grade.

It will be interesting to see if its beats its 29K list.

Mark my words,.....1916's are ^^^^^going to the Moon!

Folks I have been contacted by reliable sources informing me that the 1914 NGC * PR 66 BRN on Ebay may in fact be AT. The previous owner was (ahooka) and you may recall he returned it for this reason. So, Buyer beware.

Yeah, I remember that coin very well. If memory serves me right, the coin was dipped in MS-70 or in something like that.

Do you mean the 1914 NGC * mentioned earlier in this thread or is there also a 1913 NGC * listed on Ebay?
