Jefferson collectors
When was the last 1942-D/D taken out of circulation, or purchased as a regular 42-D, that you know of?

I've gotten 3 in the last 6 months and each of them had dirt around the mintmark

im sure theres still quite a few left in rolls. If ive found a 1943/2 in XF 45 and a 1939 Double Monticello in VF in rolls, there are going to be D/Horiz D's.
  • I have over 100 pulled from bags of pre 64 Jefferson's some graded, sold some kept have 2 AU-50's in PCGS holders, this is the only variety I don't have in UNC and have yet to cherry in UNC. The rest I have.
  • and yes, they normally have gunk around the mint mark, so when I sort the 42-D's I bust out the acetone and q-tips, many treasures await under the gunk.
