What do you think the value of this piece is

I thought I was bidding strong enough to win when I set my max as $400 ($460 if you include the juice). I guess not. I was just outbid.

What do you believe the actual value of this piece is? Do you think it's going for reasonable, strong, or moon money here?

BTW, throw away the greysheet for 1860's proof IHC.

Strong money for a low grade coin. This is the trend though for early Indians.

  • I love that year with a mintage of only 500. This is only the 10th example in all grades that Heritage has auctioned in the last 10 years and the last since 2005. I don't think it's worth it, but it may have another $50 to go.

i am just going on eye appeal. i have no idea what the value is.

for some reason the obverse does nothing for me. zip. i guess i do not
like the gunge in the hard to get at areas, for example, the date and
some lettering. Yes the slab is in rough shape and i think i am seeing
some die polish lines but the overall look of the obv is simply yawn.

the reverse on the other hand has neat wood grain look to it if you
like that sort of thing but the weird mark in the field on the left also
turns me off a bit. Did you get someone or yourself to see it in hand?
The reverse has a nice crisp look to it but i really want that look on the
    obv.

i would pass to be honest. seems there is enough pop at that grade
level where you will get another shot at one or three in the next year
    or so... i suppose.

according to that info above in brackets i guess not!
maybe that reason alone is the reason for the nice price early on.

lol. did it go up again?
posting a coin that has not finished being auctioned here on the forums
is a great way to end up paying more. people here have no scruples ;-)
