Buyers having the power = slower pay!

Maybe it's just the holiday weekend but I've noticed that ebay buyers are paying much slower than before? I only sell about 15 to 20 items a week and I used to have payment for about 90% of my sold items within the first 24 hours. I had 20 auctions close this past weekend and have only received payment from 2 so far. Hmmmm?

  • I usually pay within minutes of winning an auction. However, this weekend I was not at home much and won a few auctions. Just paid this morning. So, yes it may be becaue of the holiday weekend.

    Likely pretty true.

    MANY sellers are reporting slow-pay.

The hot controversy this morning is the question:

Under the new FB regime, should sellers risk filing UIDs for non-payers, or
just forfeit the FVFs and try to avoid NEGs?

Non-paying bidders are the largest source of NEGs for sellers.

I will not be filing UIDs on low-priced items.

I filed one this morning and don't plan on stopping.. this is the only way to get dead beat bidders OFF ebay. Once they recieve a unpaid item strike they can't leave feedback.

"i thought buyers couldnt neg if they had a unpaid item reported?"

    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    Sadly, they can.

ALL that a worthless scumster must do is "respond to the UID"
inside of the Dispute Console within 7-days of the filing.

EBAY considers a "response" to be any typing entered into the
    console by the non-payer.

    "Money sent,"

    "Money not sent yet,"

    "Money coming,"

OR, any other nonsense is a qualified "response."

In the past week we have seen MANY examples
of NPBs buying "simply to NEG." EBAY is, so far, being
pretty good about removing these NEGs. But, the process
    is burdensome for sellers.

"...Once they recieve a unpaid item strike they can't leave feedback. ...

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    Not exactly:

The wording here was changed last week:

For transactions involving an Unpaid Item, Feedback left by buyers may be removed when:

A buyer fails to respond to the Unpaid Item process

A buyer responds to the Unpaid Item process, but in replying to it they do not express dissatisfaction with the seller or the item. Subsequently the seller issues an Unpaid Item strike against the buyer.

    .....................................
    ....................................

A non-paying bidder need only respond in the console with words similar to
"seller was rude and did not answer my email," or, " seller's FB says he sells
    fakes and junk."

The strike can then be issued by the seller, BUT the "buyer" can still leave
FB that will NOT be removed.

IF a NPB is NARUd as a result of strike-count, the FB will allegedly be removed.
Strike-count is fungible at EBAY's discretion; they will remove first strikes and
    subsequent strikes upon request/review.

Filing NPBs will be very dangerous for low-volume sellers. One NEG or NEUT
can result in their suspension and/or a PayPal hold of funds.

More and more BIN sellers are turning to "Immediate Payment Required."

I see no change, buyers are paying at the same speed they always have.
  • yeah i bought over $650 in pete rose this weekend and paid them right then. don
  • need to keep filing the UPIs even on small items. This is the only weapon sellers have left get them suspended and their feedback is removed.

    Not me.

I don't want to get a NEG just to get 50-cents in FVFs back.
I doubt I would even file on an expensive item.

There is no guarantee that the scum will get enough strikes after
mine to be removed. Thus, I am stuck with the NEG.

Can sellers still answer (reply) to a neg? if so that is where I'll rebut them.

after 10 days if I don't hear or have payment I'm filing.

    That usually gets some action.

Sellers can reply in the usual manner.

Filing is probably going to result in a guaranteed NEG.

You are playing right into the game Ebay wants you to do. If you don't file a UPI they do not lose the money. Next buyers will be demanding sellers send the items first.. Guess you will give into that as well. Although to an extent Paypal is already playing that game.

I would rather let EBAY steal a few more bucks than get a bunch of NEGs.

PayPal has already been holding my money - and that of almost every other seller -
in the "high-risk" categories. The money is in the pot; it really only amounts to not
being able to sweep it each day.

I haven't noticed any difference. I certainly won't let deadbeats get away with stiffing me, either. I'll file the NPB and complete the process. I doubt most of deadbeats will even leave a neg anyway. For the vindictive ones, few and far between, I'll just respond to the NEG with an explanation and have ebay remove the NEG after I get my FVF back.

I agree, I have never recieved a neg from a non-paying bidder even those who did respond to the UPI and I left a neg for. If everyone gives up and is too scared to file then we will never get rid of the losers on Ebay.

To get NARU's one has to file NPB's.

That is a shame, but it still won't deter me for filing a FVF on a deadbeat. I'm not going to play sucker for anyone with my cash. I also don't see such a flurry of deadbeat bidders suddenly leaving NEG FB anyway. I think some of this fear is overblown, particularly when it comes to collectibles. Time will tell.

The fastest way to get him NARU'ed is for sellers to quit crying about it and grow a set and file the UPIs

The feedback system is what it is because sellers have been witholding FB for fear of a neg, now a system is in place which will only get worse, because now non paying bidders know they can hold sellers hostage with fear of a neg, just like what the sellers have been doing to the buyers.

Leave the feedback, file the unpaid item dispute and the "scam" buyers will eventually disappear. Getting a neg shouldnt be this big drama queen ordeal its been made into. Its ebay for gods sake
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

I'm with Grote, I'll continue to file NPBA's on all deadbeats. If I get a neg or two or 20 in the process, so be it. I'll be damned if I let ebay get double the final value fee's on something I'll have to relist after being hosed by the first non-payer.

I had some good luck this weekend. 13 cards sold Saturday night and 10 are already paid as of this morning.

Haven't heard from the other 3 yet but that's a pretty good start

I have been slightly slower paying the last two weeks, partly due to the holiday (ran out to the lake, got rained on, got sick) and partly due to Pay Pal. I don't know about you guys but Pay Pal has been VERY slow with echecks lately. While 2-3 days use to be normal, over a week is not that unusual lately. So many times this last week I do not quite have enough in pay pal for the purchase, so I figured the seller would rather wait a day or two, then a week for an echeck.

Personally as a seller, buyers have been alright. I have four items that have been about two weeks without pay. One I got today and the other three were purchased by some friends/buyers I have known for years and see at trade shows all the time. Cant really consider them a normal buyer.

  • I typically wait until I have enough funds in paypal before I pay for auctions. I hate having to debit my bank or cc. Of course I will not let it drag on for days before opting for debit.
  • I've given it a couple of weeks and I can defineatly see that buyers are slower with paying. Yes, some buyers pay immediatly but I think some people are comfortable just letting their items sit for 10 days before really making an effort. Here's a new one for me: I had a ebayer try to pay with food stamps!!! It was only a four dollar purchase...but come on, was it a joke?

I've had good luck with buyers as of late... I had 15 or so auctions end this week and all but 1 have been paid for.
